I have driven cars that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, but do you want to know what put a smile from ear to ear every single time I drove it?
A 35k dollar SLK320 with the optional 6spd manual. Thats a total mind expletive for you.

Ohh no. Trust. Top down and the rear end passing the front end at all times.
Seriously, it has ample power to make the wheels spin and accelerate pretty hard, but not enough power where you will get in some real deep ****. Plus with the top down the weight balance is almost perfect. The steering is so neutral. You just go through every single corner sideways and it feels perfectly normal.
I could probably win some drift comps in that car.

I used to work at the MB corp headquarters in montvale and yes the SLK was tons of fun to drive... I just LOVED the exhaust note of that little guy. Plus drifting it was awesome (even though my friend drifted the company car into a tree thus getting fired)
It was much more fun then even the SL55 (even though the SL was ***** out fast). This is how I'm going to forever buy cars now... not for outright speed or power but for the joy of the drive. Thats why I miss my old ITR sooo much.

I never drove one, so I guess I'll have to take your word for it. What year? Don't you have access to M6s?

I didn't even notice that. IMO dual exhaust on an inline 4 just doesn't make sense.

It seems like an excellent car, and I like the 4dr over the 2dr. But 50k is just ridiculous.

Yea man. Like I said, it was my job to drive cars much much faster and with much higher levels of performance but thats doesnt mean they were a more involving and fun drive. Turbo Porsches, SLs, CLs, Vettes, you name it. They all were faster straightline and I would imagine much faster around a track, but drifting an SLK across the parking lot at the bank and then sliding it into a parking stall like in the movies is an absolute blast. I dont think I ever got out of the car and didnt have an ear to ear grin on my face.

01-02 SLK350, the key is the optional 6spd manual trans though. The Auto is just as boring as a SLK230 auto, but the 6spd literally makes it a whole new car.

Maybe the motor already makes tons of grunt down low and they run a 4-2 header instead of 4-2-1. I am pretty sure if Mugen built this car with the purpose it was built with, its all function.
