just have a dumb question, if i put an hid kit in the fog lights, would they be to strong and melt the the lens in the fog light? or somehow ruined the fog light?

People have put HID pnp kits onto their fogs. I haven't hear of a case where it ruined the fog housing.

http://www.8thcivic.com/forums....html

This guy did a plug and play on his low beams and measured the thermal temperature of both the stock halogen vs. the pnp xenon. The xenon was actually a few degrees cooler during operation. However, there are different variables to consider: what temp, manufacturer of the kit (not just bulbs but ballasts, ignitors, harnesses). Just be sure to get a kit from a reputable manufacturer.

Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

I have HID low beams and fogs. You have nothing to worry about.

8000K has absolutely nothing to do with the temperature that the actual HID light bulb produces when illuminated. 8000 Kelvin is equivalent to 13,940 degrees Fahrenheit. An average HID or incandescent light bulb will produce a temperature of about 100-200 degrees Fahrenheit (estimated since I don't know the exact figure) when illuminated.

The "K" number in reference to an HID bulb is the "color temperature" of the bulb based on an "ancient Kelvin scale" before we knew that light is the electromagnetic radiation of a wavelength.

The light housing does "scatter" light in different directions and create hot spots. Apparently because the hid's light output is significantly greater than that of the stock halogens, the housing cannot allocate all the light evenly. To alleviate this problem, one would have to go with a retrofit projector setup to aim and spread the light evenly. I really don't see any scattered light issues with simple pnp kits.

To answer your other question, Hid light output ranges in the color temperature range of anywhere from 2500-120000k. The 4300-5000 color range is white. The whole idea of hid's is to mimic the light output of the sun, thus a more intense white light as opposed as to the yellowish color cast by halogens. Personally I would go 6000k, to give it a slight tint of blue. However, the higher in color temp you go, the more light output (lumens) you sacrifice.

Well, if you had a housing that accepts them, you would need get D2R HID bulbs rather than D2S. The former are made for reflector-type housings. D2S HID bulbs are made for projector type. Honestly, I just got my Si today and it doesn't have fogs, so not exactly sure which type of lens the Si foglights use. My bad. Probably doesn't matter since you couldn't use either D2S or D2R in the Si housings (I'm pretty sure on that). So, you would have to deal with the light scatter.
