Folding key remote case for 06 civic??
Hello.
I just got a 06 Civic LX on 2 days ago. It is a lovely car. One of my friends has a VW jetta whose key is a folding style. The key rod is folded into the side of remote box. I would like to have the style for my Civic. Fortunately it is on the ebay. Anyone has that one or opinions? What do you guys think about that?
Thanks.

Re: Folding key remote case for 06 civic??
I used this folding key for my Integra with aftermarket alarm system.
The keyless works great! but the key wans't. I had to play with the key to start the engine. So I only used keyless and use the oem key.
Those key will loose up later... and break.

Someone tried to swap the 8th gen FOB for an Accord FOB a bit back on another forum. Turns out they are programmed different so they were not interchangable (reprogramming wouldn't work). Doesn't mean that one of the ones you listed wouldn't work.

I have a MDX key for my '06 FG1. Have it for almost a year, still working great.
You'll have to go to the dealership to cut the key and program the Immobilizer. They won't be able to program the Keyless Entry, so you'll have to modify your old and new key. It's not easy soldering and de-soldering something that small. Unless you have an '07, in which, you CAN program the Keyless Entry yourself.
There's more info on 8th.

If you compare VW or any Europe folding key and TL key, VW key is very strong.
TL key is not strong enough. You can feel the difference and TL key feels loose.

How hard to make a copy of 06 civic key? I have only one key included remote. The extra key doesn't have to be remote founction. I found a transpon key, which looks like OEM key to me, on ebay.

To make a COPY, you still have to have the dealership program the immobilizer.

Any idea of the cost? I really don't want to go to dealership. They used to charge me fortune.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Yeah, that's where they're gonna rape you, charging you more than 1-hr of labor for a 10 minute job. In my area, the prices ranged from $62-$138.

I have a friend that has had 2 of the VW folding keys break on him so I don't know if i would call them strong. They all feel cheap to me.

The dealership asks me $43 for programming and $45 for cutting the transponder key.
Please let me know the cheap place.
