So, you were doing "e-brake rips" and 5 gear linelocks and you expect it to be covered under warranty? Better cross your fingers. I'd hate to see what you consider beating on your car.

Re: Clutch Went Out! Help!
Even the better to burn your clutch up in.
You know that isn't how your are supposed to treat your car. Whether you were in a snow covered parking lot or a pond full of feathers, you were beating on the car. If you're lucky, and maybe give the service manager a little "sucky sucky", you might get it covered under warranty.
If your clutch is toast; the abuse will be very evident, when they take it apart.

only chance in hell you might have a chance is getting it warranted is if its within 12/12000 mls and they will still make pay outta pocket. especially when they see the heat spots on your flywheel.

Why in the world would you be spinning through five gears? And why would you even tell us that? It makes you look like an idiot. I really hope you don't get warranty coverage.

Re: Clutch Went Out! Help!
Wow, that is a tough brake. If this is the first and only time you have even done this kind of thing with your car, you would think the clutch would be able to handle it (in most cases it would). I can't help but think that perhaps you might have done something like this before without the snow. But I don't know.
Whether the clutch is covered or not is going to depend on what the dealer finds when he pulls it apart. If they determine the clutch experienced abuse, whether it was intentional or unintentional, they will not cover it. If your convincing enough, they might cut you a discount on the replacement.
Of all the clutch failures I have read about during the warranty period, I only recall one of them being covered by warranty and that was mostly because the car had less than 5k miles on it and the pressure plate, for the most part, exploded.
Good Luck

Re: Clutch Went Out! Help!
i did the same thing driving up to the mountains and my clutch is still fine. took 3hrs of driving in traffic from the base of the hill all the way up to bear mountain. my car had the clutch burn smell too, but my car was fine. unless you abused it a lot just going up that one time, i have a hard time believing that you didnt abuse your clutch before. stock clutches should be able to take some abuse.
but to answer your question, i dont think honda will warranty it. your clutch is a wear and tear item...almost a guaranteed none warranty item.

Re: Clutch Went Out! Help!
Yeah there is no way in hell the thats getting good willed. I work for a Honda dealer and like someone said before the only clutch I seen get good willed was a broken pressure plate spring. No tech is going to look at your clutch and say yeah that wasn't from abuse. We would rather be sucking down 30K services and timing belts then doing warranty clutches.
Good luck though.

I just don't understand how she could have killed the clutch that quickly and it be her fault.

Re: Clutch Went Out! Help!
Can someone explain how they would know you abused it? My sister's '08 Si has 12,500 miles and the clutch died. She doesn't race it, and I swear she doesn't drive it poorly, but maybe she just shifts horribly. I know she doesn't rest her foot on the clutch though.

To the OP, It's sort of like CSI lol, you can blow smoke as much as you want, once they get the flywheel in there hands they'll know exactly what happened.
IMO, you smoked that thing to HELL and back more then once!!! members on here (myself included) have been around cars a long time. We know cause and effect all to well!!
good luck anyway
