crushing the car is also a ridiculous court order to issue, but they did. It's like breaking a jaywalker's legs for crossing outside the crosswalk. It gets the point across, but is it really necessary? I'm not arguing with you about how retarded it is, I'm just saying.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Well comparing a jaywalker to a streetracer isn't really fair. A streetracer could be considered a "danger to society" so to speak since it is a reckless act....and moreso if he is a repeat offender. A jaywalker doesn't really present a danger to anyone other than himself.
Just crushing the car would be enough to get the point across to me. But I see your point. I just think they overdid it JUST A LITTLE.

I think its seriously BS you dont even have to be "street racing" they can pull you over and for whatever reason, if the cop believes you have "stolen" parts you car will be crushed.

If the guy knows his car is going to be destroyed then there's no reason to force him/her to watch it happen. They've already got enough punishment coming their way anyway with fines, court costs, losing the car, losing their license possibly, jail time etc.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Thinking you know (ie. the judge telling you they're going to crush your car) and actually knowing (ie. seeing the crushing in person) are two different things. I think car crushing is a fair punishment for people caught in the act, however, it can be plain stupid when it comes to a stereotypical cop's definition of street racing.
"Son, you have illegal rims. You must be a street racer."

Somehow I don't think a judge would joke around about something like that. If they rule that the car will be crushed....it's gonna get crushed. And even if it didn't.....the racer probably wouldn't get the car back anyway. So if they take the car away from me forever....what difference does it make?

Re: (COMplex.)
AGREEEEEED. they street raced! yeah, its stupid, but they didnt harm anyone. if they ran somebody over, or t-boned someone, their car would already be destroyed. simply punishing someone so severely for what could possibly happen (harm to others) is ludacris. dont get me wrong, street racing is pretty stupid, and i know like five people that have died or are paralyzed from crashes. i would never support street racing. but our law system is the way it is for a reason. when you get caught street racing, you get that wreckless driving ticket(i think thats worse than careless), and you get fined a serious amount of money. you already lose your license, your car is impounded, your insurance drops you. i mean, isnt that lesson enough? if someone repeats, put them in jail. certainly dont waste all of the money that was spent to pimp zee auto. i dont see any of those cars as "rice" as all. they all look pretty clean and (imo) have tasteful mods. if you insist on not returning the car to the owner, auction it off, and make some money off of it. idk. the government really sucks ***** sometimes

they didn't destroy the car for street racing. they destroyed the car because of stolen parts. auctioning a car with stolen parts would be the same as selling stolen property wouldn't it? seriously guys, why is this still a thread? Months ago when the original LA daily news article came out there were at least a dozen threads on this. Search, read them... hell, read the original newspaper article... this never should have been in the 06+ forum in the first place..
