Default Air Conditioning

Hello All,

I just purchased a 2013 Honda Civic LX. So far, it's really great! However, I have one question about the AC.

Compared to my parent's 2010 Accord LX-P, the AC doesn't seem to get as cold, even on its maximum setting. The Accord gets ice cold to the point where you have to turn it off due to being too cold to tolerate. Also, the duct fan speed doesn't appear equal.

Is this normal? I understand the system operates off of the vehicle's engine/ radiator, and the Civic is less powerful/ smaller car than the Accord, but I just thought it might be cooler than what it is now. Everything works, don't get me wrong. The clutch cycles on an off as normal, as do the radiator/ condenser fans. Perhaps it's just me.

its brand new, well at least close to it, take it to the dealer where you bought and see what they have to say,
and it is normal for one side to blow faster

It is a smaller system and charge capacity than the Accord. Historically, the AC in Civics has never been very powerful.

Yep, for some reason it took honda a long time to move from the half size condesor to a full size. I think 92-00 are all half while 01 and up are full size.

Should be a sticker under the hood right by the condesor but I think it was 22-24oz of 134a

Yea you can vaccum out the system with an air compressor and harbor fright mini ac vac and gauge set then recharge. Hat would be best.

Or just fill it up with just about 2 cans

Sorry I can't help, but since this is one of the few posts on civic acs I thought I'd ask.
I believe I have narrowed my ac problem on my 2008 civic to the relay switch. I bought a replacement, but can't figure which of the five identical relays is the one that needs to be replaced. Dumb question but, should I just take one out a time and see which one fixes it?
