so i go to the honda dealer to have them check the alignment of my headlights...... i have a warranty, why not use it.

anyway, they swear they are aligned correctly and there is NOTHING wrong.......

and i am still wondering why the DS light wont make a cutoff line like the PS will. and also why do the highbeams/DTRL align correctly, and not the low beams? when they adjust the low beams to correct alignment (still no cuttof on DS), then the highbeams/DTRL are misaligned. i only see 1 adjuster for the whole assembly......

i argued with the service manager for 30 minutes over this, and he says there is nothing he can do.

i mean, am i crazy to expect a NEW car to have headlights that aim correctly, or is this just an issue that everybody else has?

h.i.d.? it seems like it.. if so you're not going to have a cut off line cus we dont got the lens/shrouds to bend the light.

but you can clearly see that the PS has a cutoff line, like it should.

because they should align just like everyone else that has one, and make the DA** cutoff.

Sounds like you're OCD. You sound like the type of guy the dealerships hate because he comes in because his tires *look* low.

DRL you're never going to need a cutoff, they're not for you to use, but for others to see you. Same with Highs, they're meant to spread everywhere..... NOT be a focused single beam.

And I have a feeling it may be coming, I have aligned my Civic's lights when I swapped in the Silverstar bulbs, so I do have experience with it. I'm not just speaking out of my *** when I tell you that.

If it seriously bothers you that much, play with the position of the actual bulb in the fixture and angle it differently.

maybe i am a little OCD. to be honest, this is the first NEW car i have ever bought. i have owned many hondas, all paid for in cash, and mostly eg's. when i went to buy the car, i knew more about it than the salesman did... he was just there for the paperwork.

and trust me, i havent gone to a dealership except to buy parts my whole life. i have always worked on my own stuff, not others. i guess this has something to do with why i am perturbed.

again, i have a warranty, why not use it??

low beams are factory designed to have a molded look as to not be shinning as much to the left as it does to the right and not as high on the left as the right .... and this is why you ask ... to reduce oncoming driver night blindness!! look it up !! that is why your high beams look perfect because they can be even all the way across since it is against the law to have them on with on coming traffic.. no driver should be blinded by low lights !!

I haven't bothered checking to see if they're aligned, because when it boils down to it, it doesn't matter.

If you're truly concerned by it I believe it's a 10mm ratched piece on the back of the headlight, just do what you did on a garage door and align them yourself to your satisfaction.

i have been through that already. its actually easier to use a long skinny flathead and turn the gear part of the head than fitting an 8 MM down there (not 10)

i just hate knowing that i MAY have to just live with it

Hadn't done it in awhile and knew it was kinda small, so 8mm does make more sense.

Never tried a screw driver though.....

Like I said earlier, you're probably better just aligning the low beams as those are what you'll have on majority of the time. Technically the right side of the beams should be higher anyways to throw up the light on the side of the street while not blinding people on the left.

So if you raised the right to be even at low beams and the high beam is, well higher, then that'd be good.

i will be doing this wed. or thurs. night. i will take pics, and post. and then i think i will pull fuse #37 and disable the DRL's. i mean, who wants to stare at a cross-eyed kid all the time lol. it irritates me to no end to see someone coming at me with one light blinding me.... i would rather have both blinding me

i thought the passenger headlights were supposed to be aimed slightly higher to see any pedestrian that could be walking on the side of the road at night time. thats what i always thought. but my lights are all aligned and theyre even thru the drl, lo, and hi beams

You will be glad you did. I use these wrenches on almost every job I do on my car. There are only two wrenches, but they each have four sizes (8mm,10mm,12mm & 13mm) (16mm,17mm,18mm & 19mm), that rachet both clockwise and counterclockwise. The 8mm part comes in very handy when adjusting your headlights.

My headlights look a lot better than that. I have a pretty good cutoff from my HIDs too, with stock housings.

i fixed the problem last night. it seems that whoever installed the bulb into the housing, didnt do a good job. i simply removed it and put it back in..... and now the bulb sits in the center of the round reflector. before, it was pointing down towards the bottom of it. that made the light more intense at the top of the housing, thus killing the cutoff and alignment.

and then after i discovered it to be OK, i went ahead and installed my HID's.

and to think, i have to let the same techs at Honda do the third gear service bulletin on my car next

Hi Guys

I just joined Hondatech to say I had the same problem on my 94 Lude. And the same solution.

The bulb was not seated correctly. I had to replace/fabricate the missing parts which hold the bulbs in place.

Now I have to realign the Main Beams which I adjusted prior to discovering the incorrectly seated bulbs.
