2007 sedan auto non K series

ok, purchased this car salvaged and need to pass the vin verification and with that, the srs light needs to be off.

did the code reading and got driver air bag, passenger seat belt, and passenger seat.

switched out the driver air bag, passenger seat belt, passenger seat, and srs module from a non wrecked 07 civic.

checked the codes, and now i get codes 8-1 and 8-5. According to the code readings, those are for a faulty srs module.

but another member did a trial test, and found that that codes 8-1 and 8-5 where when he disconnected the wiring under the passenger seat.


Anyone had any similar situations?

Do I treat it as a faulty srs module, or faulty passenger seat?



and here's the other fun part. If I put the old srs module back in, i get codes 5-1 and 4-2.

You need to have Honda reset the SRS computer (the new one). The diy method doesn't work on this gen of Civic.

Did resetting the SRS module solve this for you? I suppose, from other reserch, when you change the SRS module, it has to be re-calibrated to the passenger seat system. Are 8-1 and 8-5 an indication of needing such syncing?

Just as an update:
I had recently replaced the srs module on my '07 Accord, due to codes pointing to a faulty module. Once the module was replaced, I too was getting 8-1 and 8-5 codes, using the key/obdii jumper mode of reading the number of flashes. These 8-x codes were not present with the older srs module, but only showed up with the replacement unit.

Went in to the local Honda service center to get the system checked out, and it did show the OPDS and weight sensor codes. They re-calibrated the SRS module/OPDS system, and that took care of the issue. No more seat belt light, no more issues!

So, if you do replace the SRS module and you end 8-1 and 8-5, get the system re-calibrated.

if you get codes 8-1 and 8-5, you need to get the srs module reset, since those codes are for the seat sensors....

took mine in to the dealer, 30 mins later.....left with no srs light. !!
