I haven't experienced this, however I do get a weird *** whine in 4th gear... Sounds like a straight cut gearset...that weird whine. Only in 4th gear and is present EVERYTIME in 4th... Another sound comparison is alternator whine in a stereo.... anybody know anything?

This used to happen with my S2000, makes sure the transmission is warm before you start trying to shift fast.
Remember the tranny takes a LOT longer to warm up than the engine. Take it easy when it's cold, save your New transmissions.

He's right. If you're noticing problems (when it's cold especially) just go through the gears while you're at idle. Odds are, it won't happen afterwards. I haven't noticed this particularly with my Si, but I have noticed similar transmission "quirks" with previous cars.

Hope not we still stock the parts for the 3rd gear problem at Acura

YES! My problem is with a 2006 Civic, bought in December. Problem started around February.
First time I took it to dealer they were unable to replicate the problem, but lubricated the assembly and I was problem-free for about a month.
Now the "disappearing third gear" has reared its ugly head again . . . scary when you're attempting to pull away from a stop light, can't shift into third, and a semi is bearing down at 60 mph!
Took it back to dealer and this time they were able to duplicate problem, but after conference with the California office, decided it was not a problem with the car!
I feel as though I have a worthless warrantee and a car that may well get me killed. Any suggestions?
ps: This doesn't just happen in cold weather or when my car is cold.
