Splash Guards Contact w/ Fenders = Rust...
Washed the dd the other day and noticed that there was a small rust spot where the guards rubbed on the fenders. Both sides... I bought the car from the original owner, guards are Honda brand, "stealer" installed.
So... I plan to remove the guards, carefully sand off the rust, apply primer and touch-up paint, and replace the guards. The area is very small, maybe 1/4" dia.
What do you guys recommend to prevent this from happening again?

05 EX Sedan, 5spd, bone-stock... (56,000 miles and climbing fast...)

just to clarify are you talking about the "mud flaps" for lack of better words? mine made a little knick on each side I just touched it up
