Quick ? regarding tokico dspec + gc
I have a 03 Civic EX which has the 55mm shocks housing and 16mm holes for the bolts
up front. The shocks hopefully i'll be getting to mate with the ground controls are the
Tokico Dspec made for 01-02 civics.
My questions are:
1) If I were to order ground controls do I order them by my year civic (03) or do I order
them by the Tokico shocks which are meant for 01-02 civics?
2) Does anyone know a site that sells Tokico Dspecs specifically for 03-05 civics? I
haven't found any for my year civic..
I'm really confused at this point. I seriously don't want to go through the same issue
as the first time I tried to drop my car.. something about the silver cap that goes that
sits on top of the spring and connects to the top of the shock mount plate? sorry
I really don't know what Im talking about. if anyone can clear this up for me it would
be a great relief.
PS: I know if I get the tokicos im going to have to drill'em out to 16mm.

when you order ground controls, you order them spec'd to your shocks.
as for an insert, any reason why your going with dspecs instead of konis? just wondering.

tokico dspec are replacements aren't they? they're not like the koni where you would
have to put them into stock shock housing.

I'm going with the dspecs because i don't want to go through the trouble of putting the
konis into the stock shock housings. plus dspecs are cheaper. there's a few people
that run this combo on civicforums/7thgencivic and they seem to like it. i was thinkin
of going with the blues but i know for sure the blues wont handle a low drop.

Portaman03 has a new set of 01-03 Civic D-Specs .. .. send him an IM..
^^ Sarcasm. Next time I'll make it a little more obvious. Between Tokico's site and toyomatt's input .. .. it's clear 01-02 and 03+ are different Calm down "G"

but are they 55mm? i went to tokicos site and they dont even list a 55mm available for our cars.
and no, blues will not handle a hard drop. 1.5 is what i would do at the most just because theyre listed as "OEM replacements".
IMO if you dont want to hack anything up, id go coilovers honesty. tein basics wont run you THAT much more than that setup.

And I quote from Portaman03's FS/WTB post....
"01-03 Tokico D-Spec infinitely adjustable shocks - BRAND NEW perfect for lowering, softer or harder" ...
either way .. they won't fit his 03 EX.

I don't see how you'd have any problems at all .. provided you order the correct parts.

well that was just one option.. not sure if this goes for other brand coilovers..
i hope the form&function guys have something for my year. i was suppose to go with
those but didn't have the $$$ at the time. they also told me that type 2 were suppose
to come out for 7th gen civics but it's still not out. i'llrock the type 1 don't matter.
any other suggestions?

I'm either getting D-Specs wrapped with Skunk2's .. or Tein's. I'm leaning towards Tein.

You might try Progress. I don't know anyone with their coilovers on their car .. but everything else Progress makes is quality.. so I'm sure it's safe to assume their coilovers are worthy.

If I get the opportunity to, I'll post up pictures of my F2's. All 4 struts are completely blown. I've got about 1/2" of play on the piston alone, for the passenger frontside strut.
F2's, much like any of the Chinese developed coilovers, are complete garbage. They'll last you 9 months, tops.

9 months? forget that..
i noticed there's some people that run ep3 shocks on their 03-05..
supposedly it's suppose to be the same but w/o the drilling of the shocks.
do you think i can get the gc to work right with ep3 shocks?

You could use EP3 shocks, but is there some reason for it?
