Breaks
Good evening all,
I bought a 2001 Honda Civic EX for my wife and thought I would change her front break pads because they were getting old. I have done this before and normally resurface the rotors but they looked good on her car so I didnt do it this time.
Now when I drive her car and do a hard stop from 70-0 the breaks bounce, its not smooth, the steering wheel wobbles. Could this be because of the rotors or because I didnt bleed right?
I bled the passenger back break, driver front, driver back, passenger front. I had to unscrew the hose (the one that hitches upto the caliber) in the front so I could push the caliber back to fit the breaks could this have harmed anything?
Whats your thoughts?
Thanks
-Logan

Re: Breaks
resuface your rotors. how did you assess that they looked "GOOD"? eye level? bc your eyes aren't that good to see imperfections in the rotor. always resurface or buy a new rotor for smooth braking.
As for bleeding the system, did you just want to bleed the brakes just to make sure there's no air in there or did you want to change your brake fluid? What you described sounds more like you wanted to change the brake fluid. You did it in the correct order if that's the case.
resurface the rotor or get a new one. then start from there. resurfacing doesn't cost that much.
P.S. it's "BRAKES" not BREAKS (this term is used when you're breaking something...like a glass cup.

Re: Breaks
Unless you can resurface them yourself, you're better off just buying new rotors. Resurfacing delays the inevitable, as they're now even more prone to warping because they have less mass to dissipate the heat with.

Re: Breaks
I had to unscrew the bolt that hitches the hose to the caliber which drains brake fluid, the reason I had to do this was to push the caliber back to fit the new brakes in. After I did that I figured air most likely got in the line so I bleeded them all around.
Do you think the not being resurfaced is the reason that the steering wheel is wobbling when I stop quick?
