Default oldschooling a 4 door

thought id share an interesting swap. i have not been taking a lot of pictures of the work but you get the idea.. its not a build thread but i can answer some curiostiy questions

b20 automatic / built trans
04 civic
small turbo soon after its running
needs to stay automatic for the costumers wife to be able to drive it.
im still working on the wiring but its pretty straight forward.
only minor nicnacs are left for it to run.

its an inexpensive swap and simple. its done in a way that it will be able to pass the emissions plugin test under protocol iso 9141-2
pictures are in no specific order.

il post more as i go or any request

here is as it currently sits

auto transmission

overall engine space

firewall clearance

we used the d17 shift solenoids on the crv trans since they are angle up to clear the subframe. special adapter plate was used since solenoids used different bolt paterns. luckly for us they share the same resistance as the crv ones. looks like honda ran into space issues so they angled them up with the 01 and up civics

here is a pic right after we had the engine bolted up for the first time with just the side mounts

i got more pics coming. trans will be sent to get modified. line pressure and cooling system modifications.

That's pretty creative. However, it wouldn't be legal in California to do that swap.

It's not legal in any state!!! Motor must be same year or newer than chassis.

^^I want to agree because it seems like that would be the EPA law but I'm personally not 100%. If your smog readings are sent into the state its is doubtful it'll pass for the fact since the newer ECU's give out the make, year and model of the car being tested in the port test.

That's not technically true. Certain counties in Wisconsin have no ruling against this swap.

^^^EPA says otherwise (federal>state) and op's location looks to be arizona, also B20 is a SUV motor which may or may not play a role in making it "more" illegal, and Tier 2 cars were introduced in 2004 (which is another possibility of making it even "more" illegal).

It's on a federal level not state.

I suppose Federal levels were something I hadn't considered, however... I have seen some weird stuff out here.
