More civic cold start issues, What OBDII PC software??
I have 2 01' civic an auto for my wife and a 5 speed for myself purchaced new and pampered with amazing maintence as I intend for both of these cars to reach 500k with our 100 mile per day commute to work.
Both have around 140,000 on them and drive like new except both of them are starting to have issues on cold starts-
The other night i moved my civic from our heated garage outside into 28F air so I could work on my zx10R, the car sat outside all night and the next morning the outside air temp rose from freezing up to 60F in a couple hours as a southern weather system moved in so the engine block was still freezing but the outside air temp was warm. I tired to start the civic and it stumbled to life then died, i tried to re-start 2 times by cranking for 5 seconds at zero throttle each time. 100% Nothing, as if it was super lean- so i grabbed my i phone and took a video on the next try, and it started rough, ran at 400 RPM then slowly rose to normal as seen in the video duing the beeping. Exahust was not rich and seemed as if the ECU had the jetting spot on- both civics only have this issue if started and shut off on a cold engine and let sit for hours before the next re-start so im sure its ECU memory-- What good OBDII PC software can i buy to analize what sensor or componet is at fault? Im willing to spend $500 or so as I have two civic's and one 2010 Accord in the family.

Re: More civic cold start issues, What OBDII PC software??
its been overly maintained, trust me im crazy **** (gigidity) to the point i change the clutch and brake fluid every 50k and irudium plugs ever 75k- transaxle oil every 25k, amsoil 5w30 changed every 5k, cabin and engine air filter every 20k etc etc. It runs and drives perfect except this cold start thing-- not wanting a scanner i would rather have the full PC software to monitor everything that the OBDII can so i mite be able to spot a randomly faulty sensor? It should get the startup jetting from both the outside air and coolant temp sensors right?

Re: More civic cold start issues, What OBDII PC software??
Just spoke with a friend thats a street bike mechanic with lots of experence, he is on board with jetting being number one cause but also asked when the last time I adjusted the valves---- that would be never- do these D17 engines have valves that tighten up? I do drive pretty hard as its rather gutless so im sure the EGT's with the cat right below the manifold have been ultra high with my 4th gear 80MPH pull up a 10 mile long 8% hill on my daily commute!
