k20a2 vs k20a3
besides the differences in the transmissions........ which of the two engines would be the more durable and easiest to install?

also depends on how much your budget is and what you want to do. if you want a cheap swap and FI, go a k20a3. if you want a NA beast, go a k20a2. its all about compression ratios.

k20a2 = better engine = more $$
k20a3 ( IMO BAD ENGINE) = decent engine, = less $$
if ur on a budget and u cant afford a k20a2, and ur looking at a k20a3. Try looking at a k24a1/3/4.
Ive seen them for LESS than k20a3's, and they have the same 160hp and a BUNCH more torque, almost 20lbs more
Also, the k24a1/3/4 dyno a LOT higher in stock form than a k20a3.
Most k20a3's ive seen stock dyno around 135-140whp
most k24a1/3/4 are around 150-155 stock, thats more around 170-175hp at the crank.
The only kicker with the k24a1/3/4 is **I BELIEVE** you cannot use a stock k24 tranny yet, u need k20a2 or k20a3 tranny.
I might be wrong about the tranny's tho check out hasports websight and see if a k24 tranny will work.

I have a k20a3 swapped EM2. I blew up my auto d17a2 with a turbo kit. I found a k20a3 Engine Transmission and ECU for $900 with 17k on it. I really needed my daily driver to get back on the road ASAP. I recently got my K-pro Tuned and put down 161whp and 131trq... Im done with the K20a3 now. Its time to build my K24

Im into my swap with TEIN basic Dampers, and K-pro and everything else needed for the swap $2600

K20a2 is better. its just a stronger all round engine, the only differnce is that since it has a lot igher compression than the k20a3, you will need to make sure u get it tuned correctly.
but whats better than a k20a2/k20a3 for boost, is the K24a2!!! just think of a 2.4L i-Vtec turbo, try 300+ whp at like 6psi, with a BUTTLOAD of torque.
MMM
even a k24a1/3/4 turbo would be sex.

Re: (B18a_CRX)
hahahaha yeah I have taken the k24 into consideration. Only reason i would get an a3 is for its price. I find them for about 1200 with tranny and ecu

Re: (toyomatt84)
both engines have their issues. I Love my A2, but I bet that no one knows about the main bearing oiling problems or the tranny issues that they are know to have. I have swapped with the mindset of rebuilding it for massive NA power someday. K20a3 engines are great if you want to boost because of the low engine cost and the cheap turbos that are out there.
