idle jumpin when driving to like 4000rpm then to 1000??? 02 civic ex
hey everyone i have a honda civic ex had no problem with it it has 91,000 miles....couple months ago i felt driving on the highway the car jump saw that idel went to 4000 while driving to 1000 then it was fine 1 time...'

then today i was driving on road with stop lights and car would rpm up too 3500-4000 rpm and totally jumped down to 1000 or 700 then stall out like 9 times, it would start fine right after then 2 min later same thing...any idea please im losing work with no ride thank you

Im no expert @ this but have u fucked with the ecu or anything that related to the trany. If No, than i would check out your tourque converter.

Ok something to check is under the hood where the throttle body is theres a semi circle piece of plastic that has the throttle cable attached to it now the what thats mounted on to below that is a little screw with a hex head and a small bolt make sure that hasn't moved come loose or is missing.
Other then that sounds like the top dead center crap.

I have an 01 LX Auto and it would do the same thing and i thought it was nothing so i didnt take a look at it but after a while, it totally fucked on me when i was in a parking lot and the car just staright took off uncontrollably, i had to hold my brake down or else the car would accelerate on its own and would not stop. also since i never got it checked out, everytime i turned on my car and it was in gear, it would accelerate non stop but if it was in park or neutral, the idle would climb all the way up to redline and the only thing to stop it was turning the car off. My homie thought it was the throttle cable that was loose or something so he somehow got my car to settle down and told me that it could either be my throttle body or torque converter. Took my car to a shop and it turns out to be a the tranny on its last leg. Hope this info helps, hopefully for you its nothing to major and i just wanted to share my story in what happened to me since i was careless about my ****...

thats the thing it shifts fine.......but then while driving it would jump like crazy from 4000 rpm then drop to 1000 but still drive car would jerk and all i really need some help idk what to do maybe idle control sensor

jusat to let everone kow the problem is gone we cleaned out the air control valve and car runs gerater then ever thanks everyone
