2" 1/4 from the cat back attached to a vibrant streetpower. With a megan racing header. Sounds good, no rasp whatsoever

i used regular d16 4-2-1 headers and had to make a bracket to get them to bolt up from the top...the used a cat delete to connect the headers to the catback exhaust....sounds smooth with no rasp but kinda loud for me

i just signed up and dont know how lol, maybe cuz im on the probabtion period i cant but what i did for the headers was bolt the from the bottom then i got two thick striips of metal and cut out half moons so it would hug the headers from the top and drilled two holes to match up with the ones from the head....i had to then shave the right side off the flange so it would clear the power steering pump....and i coated the gasket in high temp red silicone...then i got my cat delete and it was way too short....and the flange didnt match up so i took it to a shop to have it extended and have the flange rotated

Hey guys I still have a couple of months before having to make a final decision on an exhaust setup; Im at a crossroads because I love the styling of the apexi WS2 (so clean) but it's a little pricey, but I would also like the deep tone of the magnaflow, Ive never actually heard the ws2 on a 7th gen but I have heard the Vibrant axle back (streetpower?) and I remember liking them (too bad they were discontinued for the 2001-2005) would I be completley incorrect in guessing that they have a similar sound? and are all the oval type mufflers lacking in that bassy sound?

I have the WS2 on my EM2. It's well-worth the price.

Not sure what it compares to, though. Everyone around these parts weld fart cans to the end of their stock exhaust, or settle with the cheap eBay kits. All too loud for my taste.

okay this may seem like a dumb question but...

How can i make my exhaust look nice, not sound like a dang crap burner, not cost a lot of money, while still getting decent MPG's....

I've thought about just a tip but maybe too cheesy?

Any Ideas???

I have a 03 honda civic DX.

Thanks.

Factory exhaust tip with a fresh coat of black high heat paint on the muffler itself.

Sounds good. I will note that my exhaust points down. Any ideas on how it will look with a tip???

Here's a pic...

That's not a factory muffler, then. Factory mufflers exit straight out.

It is either bent, cut, or not stock at all.

Stock mufflers exit directly backward:

Here's an OEM muffler that has been polished:

Thanks James....

Well, I'm just accustomed to the 01-02 style muffler then. Because mine didn't exit at an angle, I can assure you.

I stand corrected.

I guess the turned down muffler tip doesn't look so bad...

OEM muffler's with walmart tips on a 05 accord which has the same kind of point down muffler.

I'm looking at doing an EX exhaust conversion, but installing a Megan Stainless header and a Megan Down Pipe/Cat Delete meeting up to a aftermarket EX midpipe and my HKS axle back. Has anyone ran a Megan header and down pipe. I'm wanting to get an idea for how loud it might be with no cat. Ive heard the DC full race and its pretty loud and obnoxious.

It'll definitely be louder, but the more annoying factor will be how raspy it will sound. Without the catalytic converter, its going to resonate rather annoyingly and the exhaust note will be rather annoying. Why would you want to change up to an EX setup? Looks? Because there won't be a performance gain to be had.

Ahh that makes sense. Well I'm wanting to swap to EX set up because I did the headswap, and knowing that it yields no HP gains, I still wanted allow for better flow. I currently still have the LX header. I love the deepness of my HKS just want to add on to it to make it a little louder. I also contemplated just doing the Megan LX header and calling it a day. So would welding in a resonator somewhere after the header keep it from rasping?

It would reduce the amount of resonation a bit, but not as much as a catalytic converter. I've seen people use 2-3 resonators to try and quiet it down, in the past. It can work, but its rather defeating the purpose.

Well I know the Megan test pipe has a resonator in it, but with what your informing me, I'm thinking it might be better for both sound and the sake of passing state inspection to just purchase an OE EX Cat instead of the test pipe.

Or a Magnaflow OEM-replacement catalytic converter.
