Icon4 ECU Replacement question

I have a 2001 Honda civic lx MT that is in limp mode

im having trouble finding the exact ecu for my car...the dealer wants top charge me $450 dollars for a used one but ebay has them for way less

my problem is that none of the ones on ebay match the part number, however iv seen some that say they can fit more than one honda civic

this one for example
ECU ECM Computer Honda Civic 2001 01 2002 02 2003 03 800985 | eBay

the part number that the dealer gave me is : 37820-plm-317

will the one i linked above work with my honda?

LIMP mode is onset by a fault in the car somewhere. What was the codes you got from scanning that made you think you needed a new ECU?

Its been seen by 2 mechanics one tells me he's sure its the ecu and one tells me it might be the ecu

They both said their scanner things arnt communicating with it.

I would try an AutoZone, PepBoys, or some other car parts retailer and have them scan the car in front of you. If it still has connection issues, you'll need an ECU.

If it isn't scanning it is highly likely that you need a new ecu. I'd check car-part dot com to check the nearest junkyards. I picked up a replacement for around 60 bucks and towed my car into the dealer after i installed it. Total was around 140, 60 for the ecu and 80 for the reflash. If you don't have AAA, i'd get it just to tow it there, it's cheaper to get AAA for a year versus paying for 1 tow.
