I had to have the ATF changed at about 60K, it needs to be done again now (110K). The only problem I have is an occasional slip when shifting between 3 and 4.

2001 EX Sedan, built October 2000.

ive had it since 7 miles and ive done plenty of neutral drops in my ricer days. i think it may have broken the transmission in

Em2 autos are having problems with transmissions not all the time but often enough to find information about the problems if you look around on the internet.

dam 2200...i'm selling mine for wayyy cheaper, just want it out of the house. I never ever had a problem with my tranny. car is an 02 civic. I always took care of the tranny and never did any sort of neutral drops or anything. maybe i got lucky

sadly i do. i have a 2001 honda civic lx with 107k miles so far.i bought it with a check engine light on.the code for the check engine is P0740 and my mechanic says P0740=TCC which means i should get a new tranny.i think it would be worth it if i buy another car

^^ if you want to get a civic i think its best just to get 2003-2004 other than 2001.

Don't speak too soon. I personally hate ATs but my wifes auto in her 03 is starting to slip from 3rd to 4th. I have replaced the ATF with Honda fluid every 30K from new. It just turned 100k

Some people mentioned rebuilding it. I have searched high and low with no luck finding a rebuild kit. Does anyone know where I can find one?

Thanks

can you describe how its slipping? Sometimes I feel some hesitancy after pounding on the gas after breaking, but i dont know if thats just the road or what since I'm so close. Should I get a mechanic to look at the transmission anyways before it goes? I'm afraid it'll go while I'm in the fast lane...

Yea it was definitely hesitant..in between gears when its supposed to shift smoothly like an auto tranny, it'd miss and grab into neutral for a second it seemed like. The shifter didnt actually move but you get what im saying. If you're buying from a dealership. get a warranty and get it checked out..there are lots of problems with these 7th gen auto trannys

That sounds like exactly what I get intermittently. It dosen't happen too often though, maybe once a month.

I can't remember if it is going into 3rd or or going into 4th, but it is consistent- same gear everytime, hard on the gas or not- it slips as if you were shifting a manual and just kept the clutch in a little too long and let it out slowly. The other gears are fine so far.

Does anybody have any legal advise? I would like to participate in class action against Honda, not for tons of cash- I think that's wrong and over done. Just the trans replacement cost and legal fees if any. This is definately not an isolated incident

can a mechanic look at it and see that it needs rebuilding, im afraid if i bring it to a transmission shop they'll just fix it-even if they dont need fixing. This all could be my imagination...
