Default Advice wanted about trading my 2001 lx civic for a 1997 ex civic with half the mile plus 2300 cash!

I am thinking about trading my 2001 lx civic for a 1997 ex civic with half the mile plus 2300 cash! I personally don't have any problems with my 2001, but have heard many people have due to model changes for the 2001 year. The 1997 has lower miles and more niceties and more HP but lower MPG. Any and all input will be appreciated. Thanks

I've considered doing the same with my 02' but I decided to hang onto it for a couple of years and then look for Integra type-r. Since I started autocrossing again, that seems to be the car to beat.

Tell us more about the cars.. miles and condition, mods if any,

I would look up blue book values to see where you stand on the deal. 2001+ are turds in terms of reliability and performance. but its not as if the 96+ are all that either stock..

What are your plans for the cars?

a 97 is book valued at about 4-6 grand depending on condition miles etc... correct me if im wrong im doin this of the top of my head and a 01 is any were from 9-11 grand so if you was to do the trade you should get a little more than 2300

The NADA puts mine at $6450 with miles, and the 97 at $6950. My 2001 has a couple dings and the 97 the front bummer has been repainted but is a crappy job. I am going through a dealer. So just wanted some input before going ahead with the deal. Mine is a LX with 116k the 97 is a EX with 64k. Both cars are solid, and I am concerned about the feedback on the 2001 year civic more negative. Don't want to buy a new car just get a longer life plus the 97 has more parts available for down the road repairs.

thanks

Problem solved the 1997 is junk, the dealer said it was a one owner.

I think the car was altered, as the mileage didn't match up with the wear on the car. Brake pedal worn to metal, steering wheel looked like it was not the original, and the tag with vin # was taped to the door frame with packing tape like it was peeled off. Oh well live and learn.
