also try to keep your car as light weight as possible. btw...I've used 5w-20 and 5w-30 oil...I find that 5w-20 gives me better mpg. anyone seeing the same?

ive hit 455 miles, which is around 40 mpg, until the light came on. i couldve hit 500. i drove so slow it wasnt even funny. i never went above 3k. driving on the highway was a pain... ugh. actually, driving period was a pain shifting below 3k.

I get about 35-38 as well but thats in the city. I shift at around 2500 RPM (BTW if you can do a smooth shift at that low of an RPM you are good IMO (I can)) The speed limits here are 50MPH so I do 47-48 that way the Engine RPM is at 2000 even, and rarely run AC etc etc. The main thing is to keep a steady RPM (I'm 18 and can do that, so don't think its imposible, but the urge is very tempting.

Re: (Tadehi)
My best "city" driving was 39.5mpg. My all-time best is around 42 mpg. I drive this car easy since it is just about as fast as when I floor it... It'll pretty dang slow.

Doesn't have a cold air intake or short ram air improve fuel efficiency?
Since it improves combustion, it improves mpg.
Correct me if I am wrong. Ever since I got my intake, it seems like I get an average of about 3 mpg more.

Yes, BUT, having one also makes you want to "get on the gas more". In other wards all gains created by the CAI will have been lost due to one's lead foot. Its all in the equation Lead Foot > CAI

Re: 43 mpg (theblkrascal)
I just keep the car in shape and try to carry the least amount of weight possible. I've also become a fiend for cruise control.
I'm a Prelude owner and I first got my Civic HX and acted all like "It's just a dumb Civic." Then I saw how little fuel it consumed and I was like "Hello money!" I guess it has its charms. LOL!
