2004 Honda Civic Ex Coupe 1.7L Overheating and Shooting Coolant out of Reservoir
Hey everyone,
Car is: 2004 Honda Civic Coupe Ex with 1.7L D17a2
So I have owned this car for over 2 years now and have driven it over 35k miles. Ever since the day I have owned it I’ve needed to refill the coolant because it overheats. Coolant shoots out of the reservoir all over my transmission and engine bay and consequently it has shorted out my A/B shift solenoid. The thing is, I have researched extensively to find a solution and nothing has turned up. I have replace the radiator cap, the thermostat, the overflow tank and I have flushed and burped the cooling system many times. There is no white smoke coming out of the tailpipe, no residue on the oil cap, and no discoloration in the oil. But, I’ve noted the overflow tank is coated in a black flakey material that is pretty sticky when touched. Next on the to do list is a compression test and smog test the coolant. But does anyone have a clue what could be wrong? I’m quite puzzled since I can’t find anything on forums or youtube like what is happening to my Civic.
