Default 2001 Honda Civic Swing No Start

Hi everyone, sorry for this being such a long post, I purchased a 2001 Honda Civic about a year ago, about 3 weeks ago it just didn't want to start, it has a good swing but no start. I found a few threads about this on here and other forums, I've tried all troubleshooting so far. I've yet to try another ECM. So what I know so far is:

- No spark on all plugs
- The fuel pump is working, I can hear it
- Relay clicks behind the glove box
- Had battery tested, it's full
- No immobilizer light, it comes and goes.\
- When I run a test light on injectors I get a solid light but no pulse.
- Checked all ground connections I know of.

I do remember the day before I got this issue, I drove with my passenger side wheel into an open drain, so there was a pretty good knock to the undercarriage, the only damage was to the jacking point but it leads me to wonder if the car went into a no-start condition but that's just speculation, on the other hand, I got another immobilizer but when trying to link it to my ECM it says that the immobilizer is faulty. I've also run a diagnostic scan and everything comes back as No Response. I have had an intermittent cluster issue for the past couple of months, it comes and goes, thinking it could be a ground issue or wiring somewhere that's contributing to the no start. I saw a video on a 2007 Civic with the same swing, no start condition and it was a bolt missing from the main ground point in the engine, is there something like that on the 2001? Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi, just an update, I replaced, the reader, immobilizer, and ECM but the problem is still there. When trying to connect the system I get an error that the IMOES is not registering. All the new components are from the same car. Any enlightenment?

Do you have any DTC's? It's been a while since I have experienced this issue. I cant remember what sensors are involved in telling the coil packs to send a spark...I believe it's the crank position sensor but don't quote me on that. On this car I believe there is a coil pack for each cylinder so I would think the coil packs are okay because the chances of all 4 failing at once seems highly unlikely. BTW, how did you check for spark?

What codes are populating?

The key, immobilizer (ECU), and ECM/PCM all need to be synchronized / programmed for the car to start --- based on what you've mentioned you're still LOCKED OUT (anti-theft) because of the aforementioned IMMO problem. You can try some of the IMMO Tools available from Launch, Autel, etc --- most will allow you to enter the IMMO Unit, program new or additional keys, etc. You can BYPASS the IMMO on an emergency basis:

STARTING THE ENGINE WITHOUT A
PROGRAMMED IGNITION KEY
If your customer is stranded because he or she has no
programmed ignition keys, or a part of the immobilizer
system has failed, you can still start the engine using a
properly cut key blank and the VIN-specific, five-digit
Immobilizer Brake Code.

I keep forgetting how much effort Honda puts into their anti-theft systems. Yea, if the ECM, ECU and ignition are not keyed to each other that makes perfect sense that the car will not produce spark. I had an issue with my ignition tumbler and the parts to fix were like $1600...more than the car was worth. What I ended up doing was just leaving the dumb key in the ignition all the time then holding up the black part of the smart key near the keyhole and it would start. In my research to figure out bypasses for this issue I found some folks ran a wire with a switch to bypass the ignition switch power to spark circuit...but that's just an ignition bypass...it would still probably not produce spark as the ECM/ECU needs to tell the car when to fire. That probably doesn't help you, but other than reprogramming/re-keying your equipment, that's all I got. Good luck!
