Icon2 2001 Civic with P1361

I'm getting a P1361: Intermittent Interruption In TDC 1 Sensor Circuit. This has happened twice within the last week when wife is on 30min commute. CEL comes on, car won't accelerate and then eventually dies.

I'm going to replace the TDC sensor.

My question is, do I have to remove the valve/head cover to do it? My shop manual just shows the upper timing cover removed.

Thanks in advance,
Shannon

I replaced mine i had to remove the valve cover, which isnt all that hard, i had my TDC out, replaced, and everything put back together with the hood closed and engine running with no Codes in 2 hours.

Yes change that sensor and the problem will go away. Common problem with these cars.
