Re: (saywhat)
first off, rat rods own!!
second... waxing the flat black/bumper paint will give it a satin-type shine? I'm gonna look for bumper paint in a quart, if not i'm going to go ahead with the rustoleum flat black paint and try waxing a piece of it to see how it comes out. thanks...
btw, where's the flat black???

Re: WHAT KIND OF FLAT BLACK PAINT??? NOT ARESOL (dantastic)
painting ur car flat black is like rocking rotas. every1 knocks rotas, but sorry, painting ur car out of a spray can is about 100 times worse. temporary is a different story, but to plan on keeping it is just stupid.

An actual matte black paint job looks awesome. I think that too many people do rattle can jobs and most of the times it comes out looking poorly.

I think that most cars can look good in flat black but you can't spray it with a rattle cn. That just looks like ***. You definatley need to spray it in a proper booth, vented etc. so it still looks good.

Re: (Team Underground Teg)
Well I went to the store today and bought 3 quarts of Rustoleum Satin Flat Black. It says to use acetone NOT thinner or anything else. They had both Flat Black and Satin Flat Black. I decided to get the Satin. They only sold hte Satin in quarts though. I spent a total of $23 without the acetone cause my grandpa has some. The car should hopefully be ready for paint Sunday. When it gets done I will post pics of it. Hopefully everything works out fine.
And yes the paint can job never looks to good and my friend was wanting me to do it that way but I just couldn't go that route. Thanks for everyones replys and look out for the post of the car next week HOPEFULLY.

Re: (WrongWD)
Don't ask me I read in a search on Flat Black before that a guy used thinner with the rustoleum. I was just clearing it up that you use acetone.

I used black sealer on my Accord and my brothers Hatch. I will post some pics up. The only problem with spray cans is that you can see tiger stipes in the paint job.

damn guys you can't just use one part of a base coat clear coat system and expect it to work. for the silver just get that color you want and then use a clear coat with a dulling agent in it. if you do it with just base coat when you start washing it the brush (or mit or whatever you use) will start actually polishing it and start making it glossy. but it won't be even so you will have some flat spots and some semi gloss spots.
Cliff Notes: If you use just base coat it will look like ***

Re: (LsNrG)
Car is painted doesn't look bad except were I could use more bodywork.. I was lazy and plan on painting the final color like the engine bay WRX blue next year.... I love it alot and think it looks 100% better than it did primered, rust, and sanded.... It was all fucked up b4..... I should have the film developed monday or my friend is going to have pics sunday for me on his digital since mine is broke.
