POLL - IF your car was stolen, did you have an alarm?
Before you ask for this thread to be moved, here's the reasons why i posted it here:
1)Traffic
2)Everyone spends so much cash on the appearance of their cars, but security seems to take a back seat.
Anyways, if you've had your car stolen, did you have an alarm/club/autolock?
I'm hoping to prove that we should layer our security a wee bit more, in the place of *gasp*, some appearance upgrades!

The feeling of a car stolen from you is very discomforting.
My car was stolen once within one hour while going to class, I forgot to set my alarm that one time and it left.

you can get a keyless entry w/o an alarm can't ya? I know there are some factory "alarms" on cars that are just keyless entry.

Both times taken with full alarm...battery backup, backup sirens, starter kill, fuel cutoff etc etc....and it was still gone
Although it was a blessing in disguise, I had it riced out with some bling bling wheels and a big ol window banner , but still sucks because I lost that money .

Thats incorrect, you could put 5g's into the security of your car and I can tell you at least 3 ways to get around it.
I am not going to post any of that information to assist thieves in stealing peoples car, but if you want to understand how you can get your car stolen you have to know how to steal your security. You have to have people test attempt theft on your car. Those super fancy alarms with gps 2 way paging laser sight alarms can only do so much.
Bring an foriegn electric current into the mix and that will easily solve the alarm aspect of your security. Now to get around to what can be stolen the fastest (THE CAR) or what you want from the car. Normally they profile the car before playing with it. Throw random objects at it to test its alarm sensitivity before moving in for the kill.
Thieves are getting smarter and smarter every day. Just a couple of months ago some guy with the top of the line clifford alarm was battling with cliffords claim to give you cash when your **** gets jacked because someone took off with his car and that avant guard 1200 dollar alarm system too lol.
An alarm that makes noise will only save a cosmetic mod on your car, it will not SAVE THE CAR.
Autolock and all of that other bullshit is just more obsticles for thieves to get arround but the car will eventually get stolen no matter what. Lol!
So whats the point, the best alarm you can have is INSURANCE and RECIEPTS.
I have a lo jack, and a fuel cut off switch. The night I forgot to flip the switch the car was gone, its been broken into plenty of times. I have no interior so there is nothing to steal?
But if they want the car I say take it, the amount of money I have invested in it would be covered in what I would get back for the car. Hell I would be happy with juts a 7000 dollar return on my car if it came up missing to put that down on an evo8 or something.

Good point, but you misunderstood what i was saying. i meant that with 500 to spend, we'd rather opt for anything OTHER than security, as security never gets any praise. But i see your point about getting jacked with 5Gs of precautions.

Re: POLL - IF your car was stolen, did you have an alarm? (erikiksaz1)
man the first mod I had was an alarm.....I can't figure out how people dump so much money into their car, but yet can't justify spending $400-$800 on an alarm to protect it all!!! I had a friend that got a badass Clifford Alarm for Christmas and he just returned it so that he could use that money towards some Recaro's....
