Re: Official 2011 Summer Import Alliance Pic/Video Thread....
some nice cars but it seems like the same thing every year. who can put the most stickers on their windshield while dragging the ground with the ugliest wheels and a filter stuck on the TB if anything at all. is there ever gonna be anything new in this world? or just the same **** over and over again
did you come to ia? its about the experience/road trip/hang outs.
and if someone did something "new" it would be copied and faked out by next ia. or the person would be outcasted and **** talked out of the scene.
people in the scene now a days are so damn cynical.

No I mean the pulls on the highway. I don't get down with the other shenannigans. That's why we never stay there. Just stop by for racing. But in retrospect there wasn't much racing. Lol. But yeah I hear you... that ***** gotta stop.

Re: Official 2011 Summer Import Alliance Pic/Video Thread....
First off, I have to say this has to have been the best year I've had at Import Alliance and I've heard pretty much the same from most people I've talked to. Even with the economy down and general public enthusiasm at a low the tuning community continues to thrive and push boundaries. It was a blast getting to see all my old friends I haven't seen in a year and also to put some faces to some names I'd previously never known. Like Joe said on Sunday, "I wish everyday was I.A."
The ride into Nashville I saw maybe two cars that could have been going to I.A. However, after stopping for lunch in Lebanon I had a chance encounter with John from CCW. We met up with two others that traveled up from Florida with him and headed out the track where vendors were getting things setup for the big day.
K-Tuned had plenty of awesome setups on display. It was especially interesting seeing their new system for preventing 1-2-1 shifts with a locking pin. It's innovation like that which keeps the industry moving forward.
One vendor, which I failed to get a name for, spared no effort when it came to their setup. A semi trailer was unloaded of suspension setups, various exterior bits and pieces, engines, nose cuts, half cuts and ~40 Recaro buckets. I saw them conducting raffles throughout the weekend but I wonder how much they sold of the stock they brought. I was really impressed by the guys moving all the stuff around, they were busting *** the entire time I was there.
A set of beat to hell SSR EXC Fins with winter tires mounted on them. Yes, some guy in Japan used these as winter, beater wheels. Somewhere, some wheel aficionado died a little inside.
It was really odd to see the paddock almost completely empty. Very calm-before-the-storm.
Small scooters were EVERYWHERE this weekend. I guess after a year or two people have finally wised up and decided that walking the entire grounds wasn't exactly the easiest way to see all the cars. I overheard Nick Thomas, Track. One drift driver, say he wants to build a drivable, tent covered, ice cooled pool to drive around.
The real reason I was at the track Friday was to meet up with Matt (toyoMatt84) to meet up with the Midwest Caravan as it made its way into Nashville. He had a bunch of GoPros that Don let him borrow and I rode with Matt's buddy A.J. and got a bit of footage of my own. Unfortunately, the caravan got split up so we didn't get to see any huge group but we both got enough footage to make it worth the trip.
As we left the track we saw the guys from Track. One getting to the track, which was actually pretty amazing considering they like to work until like 6:00am. When we got back most of them had already left but there were a few still around and a few of the cars were already there.
Of course, by the time I got to LaQuinta there was absolutely no parking. Fortunately, Holiday Inn was asleep at the wheel and left their back gate open to park in. It's amazing the change that I've seen year to year, and I haven't even been coming for all that long. Two years ago, Friday night there were quite a few people at the hotel but it was relatively quite. This year's Friday looked like last year's Saturday.
That's all the photo coverage from Friday, be sure to check in for some random video coverage from Friday later. I'll be posting up photos followed by videos until I've finished with the coverage. Finally, be on the lookout for a trailer for a full video of the event in the next few days.
