Default New Project: 95 Eclipse GST...many updates to follow...

****Car is Finished and Sold.****

It seems like everyone likes to post pictures and updates of their progress on particular projects. Now i realize this isn't a honda, but it should be interesting to those who like factory turbo cars.

Here are two pictures of the eclipse, it is a 95 and came with 95 headlights, no bumper, no fog lights. I've since acquired 99 headlights, 99 front bumper and oem fog lights.

The car will also be getting a supra smic, buschur racing upper IC pipe, 1g crushed bov, ported small 16g (good for about 280whp), act 2100 clutch setup, ceramic coated exhaust manifold, o2 housing and turbo exhaust housing. I'm having the sideskirts (new replacement sideskirt for passenger side), and bumper painted this week.

I just need to buy a downpipe (has 3inch exhaust), fuel pump and some type of fuel controller so i can run 18-20psi on the street. 16inch Polished/Chrome OEM GST wheels with new tires will also be added when i find a set for a decent price.

More pictures will follow as i make progress on this...which should happen over the next two weeks. I'm doing this so i have a reliable daily driver which is decently quick. This will allow me to work on the car i actually care about...which is the 89 Dodge Colt GT. (i know, i know, i know...an 89 dodge colt)

front bumper cover/sideskirts/rear wing are painted...

OEM GST Wheels Stripped...

OEM GST Wheel Polished (on right) vs Not Polished (left)

Washed/Waxed the Whole Car...

cleaned the interior briefly...still needs more attention...

fog lights are installed...bumper cover roughly fitted into place...

Exhaust Manifold, Turbine Housing, O2 Housing are finished...(i'll have pictures of these items ported saturday/sunday)

cheap horsepower mod here...according to dsm experts porting is good for 10+whp. i'm guessing its closer to 5whp, but its still easy and inexpensive to port everything. here are a few pictures.

after...

VRS 2.5inch downpipe

here are a few pics of the act 2100...like i said before...this is/was my least favorite thing to do.

i like the flamers...it makes for a more interesting thread.

the best part about these cars is how easy they are to work on/make power. with 280whp, the setup will be 100% reliable and somewhat fun to drive. obviously its not a 400whp 8000rpm turbo honda, or a 320whp dodge colt...but for the daily drive...taking girls out...etc...it should suffice.

seems like your headlights are a little yellow... ...that is very common and can easily be returned to a more clear looking.
Use some "rubbing compound", same stuff used on buffing cars and apply on headlights..... scrub them as hard as you can, repeat the process 2 or 3 times, after that.... clean them up and look at them so shiny dawwwwwwg...

Nice Eclipse. Good luck with the project. Make sure you watch for the ever so threatening CrankWalk.

I used to have a 2G Non Turbo Spyder that I did a DOHC head swap on, laid down 250whp at 8psi.

i'm not too worried about crankwalk. (maybe i should be) the clutch is adjusted properly and the motor only has 103k miles on it. eventually i'll put the 6bolt motor from the colt into the gst after a built motor goes into the colt...but that is still a few months away.

Well I have been here before. You may find yourself spending lots of money on something that won't stop breaking. I had a 1998 GST got crank walk. I put in a fully build 6bolt from a 1990 eclipse. That is what you are gonna want to do. I'll share with you what I did, and if you need any help doing anything or have ?'s let me know.

here she is blown up.

time for the new stuff.
crower springs and retainers.

she ran a 13.8 on a stock 14b turbo and no fuel upgrades. I never got to see what she could really do.

I put in a Fadinza flywheel and 2600 ACT clutch. Bottom end was JE pistons and every bolt I could get was ARP, Rod, mains, head, flywheel. Well good luck man wish you the best on this.

you know, i've had great luck with dsm's and throughout the years i've only had one item fail on me...which was a clutch master cylinder on the colt gt. keep in mind the car is an 89 and the master cylinder was pushing an act2600 pressure plate. the motor has no signs of crankwalk right now and usually the thrust bearing starts to wear because of inproper clutch adjustment, engaging the clutch to start the car and lack of good oil pressure from running the car low on oil. in my case, the car was taken care of pretty well. i have a spare 6bolt motor and it may end up going in the car at some point anyway, but as of right now i'm pretty confident with this motor and feel like its the least of my worries.
