Default My CERTIFIT bumper cover review [insert funny 56k joke]

When I turbocharged my 95 civic coupe about a year ago, I had to cut up my bumper quite a bit to fit my intercooler. Now that i've taken off all my mods, I have these 3 gaping holes in my bumper that have been bugging me. So after a little research I came across a company called certifit, they sell OEM style bumpers, fenders, headlights, ect for pretty cheap, so I thought i'd take a gamble and buy a new bumper cover from them. After a long drive I finally made it to the one certifit location in colorado, and after almost hitting the biggest pig i've ever seen (I swear to god it was about 5 feet tall and 7 feet long) I finally got there. After a small wait I was able to ask for my bumper, and was quoted at just under $30. I paid with cash, got my bumper and went on my merry way.

After getting back home I unwrapped the bumper and took a good look at it. My initial impressions were good, looked just like an oem bumper, felt pretty stiff and durable.

thats good and all, but its all useless unless it fits, so I pulled my old bumper off and put it up to my new one to compare the two. This time my impressions weren't so good, the certifit one was a good 2 or 3 inches shorter than the oem one...that cant be good. (OEM bumper is behind the certifit one, its the really dirty one)

so I threw it on the car to do a quick test fit, thinking that it might work better on the car. But once again, it was about 3 inches too short

so after about 30 minutes of cussing and screaming I was finally able to get the top screws in there (bottom ones are another story, ill get to that later) and surprise! another problem. I guess the bumper is a little wide where the headlights are, and is rubbing up against them

and of course once I get the sides lined up there is the obligatory huge gap...but ill give certifit the benefit of the doubt here and blame it on the fact that even with all my weight and strength up against the bumper, I cant get the holes even close to where they should be to bolt them up.

So all in all, certifit is trash, sure I saved $200, but when you cant even get the thing bolted up its kind of pointless. Ill go back tomorrow and see if sitting on the car overnight will have helped it stretch out, and maybe I can get the lower bolts on then. But as it stands now certifit gets a big from me.

return it d00d.

i got 2 fenders and a bumper from certifit. they all fit great. i had the bumper sitting for quite some time kinda twisted, so it fit a little weird at first, but now it's ok.

it isnt too short or have any weird gaps, etc.

one of the fenders had a small dent, so instead of dealing with it, i returned it and got another one without any bitching or questioning.

Are you sure you have a EG not an EK ? Or maybe it's JDM and in a smaller scale since people in Japan are smaller.

Return it d00d, I've dealt with aftermarket parts many times but never saw a fitment issue this extreme.

You get what you pay for, our cost is around $20 bucks a bumper, do you really think they can be good for that price? it takes hours to fit them right.

whoa whoa whoa........are you sure you got the right bumper?? I have bought a few bumpers and such from certafit and they have always been a perfect fit, and for the low prices, you cant beat it. I got a front bumper for $27 and a fender for $45 and they both fit perfect. I think they actually make the parts at each individual store, so maybe the one near your is not as good. But I would highly recommend the one near me.

I have the right bumper, im sure of that.

I dont want to drive back up there to return it for another, its about an hour long drive and its hot as hell out (im lazy, so what? )

But I found out why I couldn't line up the lower bolt holes, the license plate bracket was hitting the bumper support. A little dremal work and a couple hockey checks later I got it to 'snap' into place. So I have upgraded its status to '1 bolt to go' Getting this thing bolted up on the bottom fixed that gap. and a little more dremal work to move the top middle screw hole over a little will help that part rubbing the headlight.

I'm with man! I have the 3 holes in my bumper too and I went to Certifit to get a bumper for like 25 bucks and at first I was like DAMN what a deal! Then I went to put it on and that was a totally different story! I even came prepared and had my heat gun out and tried to heat up the bumper to get it to mold better. NOT **** didn't even phase it. I left it out in the sun and that did nothing either. It like you can possible get 1 side in then you can't get the other so I was all flustered. And here I am now same 3 hole bumper and the Certifit sits in my friends Garage.

for Certifit

Ps. SOME SELL ME AN OEM FRONT BUMPER!!

I said 2 door, im pretty sure they are the same though.

I dont hate it so much anymore, Its almost on now and it fits pretty good. Maybe I just got a bad mold or something. Ill snap a few pictures when I get it all the way on and update my first post.

Mine fit pretty damn good, but then I cracked it by losing control of the car trying to make a turn and landed in a ditch. But the car was fine, just busted the lip, and bent the bumper.

My car winterized.

that seems to be the wrong bumper. certifit stuff usually is pretty darn close to oem. I'd take it back and exchange it
