How about you compromise with her and do your spraying when she's gone? Or ask her to leave for a bit while you paint your car?
Seriously, my wife doesn't like some of the **** I pull in our garage, but she's at least willing to work with me.
Anyways, there's got to be a way for you to work it out ahead of time with her. Any reasonable person should be able to do that.
