Default Home-Made Strobes?

Anyone know any good how to's on making your own strobe lights? I was looking at the radio shack catalog and the strobe tube and trigger coil add up to 4.48, + 10 bucks max for the other crap is pretty cheap for a DIY project and you get to learn stuff while you're at it.

If you know of any good tutorials, please post a link.

why you want to spend all that time trying to ghetto rag it and
not spend the same of less money on ebay?
what are you going to say? "I built my light strobe?"
not flaming you but does the time spend on it
justisfy the end/final product?

Ive got the stuff for the angel eyes sitting on my desk downstairs, i need to figure out a way to mount them.

Once again, Im more interested in learnning to **** around with electronics rather than just buy the built crap.

If you want to learn, purchase a book on electronics. You'd be surprise how much you can learn from a book.

Trying to make one yourself is like hunting squirrels with a 50 Megaton Nuclear bomb, sure it'll kill the squirrels, but it isn't very efficient/smart.

There are plenty of strobe lights kits manfacturers out there, just pick up one for $10 and tear it apart and look at it if you're so intent on making one yourself.

Good Luck,
Len

Took the words right out of my mouth . If you want a quick run-through, borrow a high school kid's physics book and run through the chapter on electricity. Triangles are ground, three lines stacked vertically with a taper from top to bottom is a capacitor, squiggly lines are resistors, black dots are soldered connections, white dots are power sources (I think). That's what I remember from high school: I'm a sophomore English major in college now, so you may want to punch circuitry and electricity into a google search and confirm it.

Props to wanting to learn for yourself...I dunno about the application, but it's your car and I don't really mind lighting effects like most of the angry people on this board .
