I dirived these mathmatical formulas for this very pupose:

Fire extiguisher+visiability=rice
Fire extiguisher+hidden in the trunk=function

I see absolutely no problem having a fire extinguisher for fires. I keep one in my old jag as to hopefully not burning my car down if it came to that. I think it's especially important with carburated cars but i also kept one in my talon.

Since this is in the apperance section, yes, i think it's utterly stupid to show off a fire extiguisher. I think a custom set of jumpercable mounths would look about the same.

my friend has an m3 that he tracks and a week ago at Gingerman his extinguisher fell off the bracket and rolled under his brake pedal going into turn 4 so he went off the track. thats pretty neat i guess.

That's why i've always had it in the trunk. I'd also be scared for any high speed collisions on the street having it in the passanger compartment.

I'm not sure if you guys realize this, but there's a saying that's been floating around for some ages now, it goes something along the lines of attitude is everything.

If you have a fire extinguisher for the sole purpose of giving off the appearance that you have a "built" or "race" car then it's "rice"

If you have a fire extinguisher for the purpose of extinguishing fires then it's not rice.

Mount location is irrelevent. But if it were me, I would mount the thing within reach And if anyone called me a ricer I'd just laugh at them.

Depends on what you do with your car.

it's never a bad idea to have it in your car, and doesn't depend on what you want to have it look like. If its screwed into your a=pillar and when your acting like a ******* idiot and it comes loose and breaks your girlfriends nose.. your a ricer..

when you have it under a seat, or clamped to your floor and you put out a fire.. you'r smart.

Yea.... no.

Being able to see a fire extinguisher doesn't make it function any different than if you can't.

+1 I agree. Because if my engine bay is on fire, I prefer not having to get out, run to my trunk, get the extinguisher, run back to the engine, and then start spraying. By then, everything is done for.

Thank you GOD, someone around here has their head in the right place.

It's a fire extinguisher; function for the sake of function. Make it functional and put it where you can reach it if there is a fire in your car.

Dunno for sure but I've heard you could get a slight break in insurance rates if you keep one in there.

i have a small one i keep under my seat. never had to use it, but ever since i seen a ssnova burn to the ground, ill never leave home without it. i figure 30 bux is a good insurance policy when i spent over 10k on building my car.
if someone tells you its rice, tell them you love your car

Damn, people have no sence of humor here...it's a joke man. I do think that "showing off" your fire extinguisher, which was really my point, is pretty dumb.

As for it being in reach, your car shouldn't burn in 2 seconds. My personal choice in the past is to keep it in the trunk. Keep it from ever hitting me if a bracket failed, etc. I'm talking about street cars btw. But, it's a personal choice, like everything, you do to your car. I'm not that dude who gets furious when someone does something i find to be unappealing.

It's always good to be prepared. Not just for yourself but for others.

My friend's M3 burned down on the side of the freeway.

Some guy stopped with a half-filled extinguisher, didn't do much but it could have.

So no not rice. Unless you make it out to be ricey.
