Isn't the whole point of buying wheels for your car to differentiate it from the rest of the crowd? There are so many people buying slipstreams for their cars that i'm getting sick of looking at them. BE ORIGINAL, and stop following what's popular you lemmings.

Disclaimer: I realize that there is a small part of the population that owns every wheel. But there are too many people buying these things.

First off, read the disclaimer. I said that there's a small part of the population that likes every wheel, so i'd expect to see it a couple times.

So ok, i understand that that the Rota's are cheaper than the spoons. But isn't that kind of like putting a VTEC sticker on a 4 door civic ? It just means, "i'd like to look like i have money but i really don't."

And like mtkversion said, people just buy them to try and be Jdm, save a few who bought them for performance.

Simply put, 99% of the people buy Slipstreams because they look like SW388, not because they're "better value than the Spoons", or whatever people like to argue when justifying why they bought Spoon SW388 fakes.

Had the SW388 never existed, and ROTA still marketed the Slipstreams (that would never happen, ROTA makes a living off other co. designs), i'm sure it wouldn't be nearly as popular.

i bought them, because these things are considerably durable. until my wheels crack. i've driven fast, over bumps, potholes, dips and any other road flaws, but this thing can still hang. all in all the overall quality is perfect for me. i didn't see these wheels around over a year ago around CA as much, and now seeing your point, makes me think twice. it's all about personall preference, they used their money to buy them, so leave them be. waste of bandwidth. now let's see some pics!!!

Well I don't take my car to the track to impress you. And rotas are light and cheap. If I destroy them I won't cry. Spoon wheels are just way over priced.

If it makes you feel better my street wheels are ROH reflex. But I have 2 sets of rota slipstreams for the race track. One with Aziens and one with hoosiers. One silver and one black.

Oh and I hate flashy wheels. I never thought wheels made the car. I think flashy wheels take away. Just my opinion.

Granted there are few people out there that build their car in attempt to "impress" everyone. You can tell who these people are by the threads they create on here. For instance, "Which wheel looks best on my car?" "Help! Which wheels should I get." You get the picture.

But there is no write or wrong way to build car. You have no right to tell someone which wheels they should buy or they shouldn't. You should stop wasting time on disgusting yourself by looking at these shitty rota wheels. Find something else to look at if it bothers you so much.

Why are you (original poster) so worried about why someone else bought their wheels? If they are happy let them be. YOu are wasting your time and everone elses. If they look less original, won't you just look better. I guess that's what it all about to, right?

And why do others here seem to think that most everyone that bought these wheels because they want to look good?

Here's my generalisation:

So many people in this "scene" (or on HT) seem to spend too much time coming down on what other people have done to THEIR cars. Worry about you own car, and if you want to, what others think about it.

I want my car to look good. I just bought some 16" Subzeros. I made my choice because the were lighter than stock (14.5 vs 15.5) they are larger and wider, they are nice (to me) and they were affordable. If you think I'm a ricer or JDM *****, good for you. I hope you live a happy life with your judgements of other people.

I am so offended. Oh boy. Please. Somebody, save me. I just realized that people on the internet don't think I'm cool because I've got inexpensive lightweight 5-spoke wheels.

Guess what original seekers: They might be popular here, but guess what, so are HONDAS on a HONDA msg board. The reason they are so popular on HONDA-TECH is the same reason why forged pistons, toda cams, headwork and azenis are popular-> Because they perform well!

In real life, be it at the track (circuit or drag) or street shows or weekly enthusiast get-togethers, I've yet to see 1 car with slipstreams (other than my friends' VW who bought them for the same reason).

Hey it's kinda funny. When I go to the track or autox every honda has Konis, ground controls, rotas, aziens.

I guess I should try to be more original because I have the same.

Oh yeah my rotas were light and cheap. Real cheap as a matter of fact. I got two pairs for the price of one. Plus my civic is WRX silver and the silver rotas look real nice.
