EK4 Hatch from Singapore
Hi, I come from Singapore, and we've roughly around 20 or so EK hatches left in this country, being that the silly government has a 10 year lifespan certificate on cars (renewable) at roughly USD$20,000 for that piece of paper. It's not like you can import a used car in here and get it registered, it has to be less than 3 years old for that to be done.
Anyway, always like the look of the EKs you guys have in the States, sporting roll cages (illegal here), K-series swaps (B-series is less obvious but still illegal), and low kits (the road here sucks 'cos Bangladeshis build them). But this didn't stop me from doing up my EK as clean as it could be.
Keep the comments coming, I know H-T peeps can be quite straightforward, but I know there will always be a big room for improvement as this is still a WIP. Even if I don't get in, this would be a build thread~ I apologise for the resolution of most pics, thanks to the shitty iPhone 3GS. Tentatively there would be a photoshoot this Tuesday, will get better pics uploaded.
This is how the car look when I got it, and it costs US$34,000 in Singapore thanks for that piece of Certificate of Entitlement (COE) to drive it for another 6 years.
There's no Chasebays or Rywire here, so I've got to make do with conduit and wires bought from Autobacs.
Cleaned the engine bay to spray.
Shaving some stock welded nuts away~
Gave it 3 coats of Mugen Grey. There was a Civic FD2R at my workplace that came from Japan done by Mugen sporting the same engine bay and interior color, so decided to follow suit.
Running the fuel, brake lines, etc.
The weather here is humid and hot, So I've got to run A/C here, and I tucked it so that only the radiator is seen and not both.
This bible is full of poison. It costs $40USD here~
Got the carpet changed from black to one that came from an EK9. (There's only 3 road legal EK9s left in Singapore)
First day on the road, told myself to get rid of those Slipstreams.
At the dealership, to get them window visors and a SIR logo.
The Brides are in, but I'll pity the rear passengers getting in, if any.
Decided to put on some TEs from the scrapyard~ That's my old EG2 behind.
Small pic for memories sake, its COE is due in Jan 2012, so I've got to sell it before it depreciates away.
And without spacers for now..
Fuel joint broke, FML.
This means towing to the workplace again.
Got that fixed, and put on some EK9 door panels.
And also a EK9 cluster to matc, which was WAY BETTER than the blue EL **** it came with.
Swapped the centre console that comes with a clock out for this..
Hit a rock that dropped off a lorry at night, and damn those rims.
Changed to an Apexi PowerFC ecu~
Changed to a CF fat tummy..
Found this JDM ETC card reader too~
Clutch gave up on me. Should have changed it when the engine was dropped.
Rims finally fixed, without discoloration, and balances well too.
Albeit hard to read the lambda this way..
A small montage so far.
Windscreen from Japan = Complimentary Season Parking disc~
Pic so far..
Driving up to Malaysia, just tinted the lights too.
At the summit of Genting Highlands, Malaysia.
Only 180whp~ =(
Took the wing out..
Alex Racing brackets from RHDJapan.
At its middle hole setting.
At night.
Changing to an EK9 boot after a Toyota Vios banged into the rear.
Yearly MOT inspection..
Carbon Bonnet now in~! =P

Re: EK Squad Try Out
Page 1 of their Official Picture post states that if they like the thread, I'd get chosen~ No harm trying! =P Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words sir~
In Singapore we've only EK3, 4s or 9s~ Hatchbacks are twice as rare as a sedan here and furthermore as most cars get scrapped less than their 10 year lifespan too.

Re: EK Squad Try Out
Hmm~ We build race EKs at the garage I used to work at, and took part in the Sepang 1,000km Endurance Race last year and came in 3rd in the 1,600cc category.
Some pics to keep this thread livelier..
On the track..
The build~ One of which DNF..
<3 those +25 7.5J TEs!
We faced competition from bigger local garages with better funding~
My Mugen engine bay color inspiration came from this car, which took part in the 2007 and 2008 Sepang MME, where J's Racing, Spoon, Tracy and other Japanese teams came too.
My old EG2, featured in a local car magazine before I sold it off with no regrets!
I bought this issue out end October last year, and first heard of the EK Squad. This magazine costs US$8.20 here.
Feel that people like seeing pictures, I myself is at Page 2,620 backtracking pictures uploaded there too. Thanks for viewing!

sweet car man, i know how it feels to have one of the few EK around. Only seen one other modded EK here in Germany. It's worth it though because I get so many looks and compliments from people asking me about my car

Re: EK Squad Try Out
Thanks sir~! It's the way to go for now, next would be some BYS front bumper or MandM GT Wing? Not sure yet~
Oh we are mostly bilingual here, English is taught as a first language.
Thanks for the kind words!
It's the way to go for now.. ^^~
You're welcome! Would get pics with better resolution uploaded soon from the photoshoot tomorrow!
The Civic FD2Rs, Suzuki Swift Sport are more common cars around here that are done up, the EF/EG/EK scene here is dying!
True that, cos with the equivalent amount of yearly depreciation (becos we don't own these cars forever), I would be able to get an Integra DC5 or an Evo 8 or 9.
Yah but the EK9 headlights have no covers over the bulb, hence the plastic cover infront would get blurred or freckled if a high power bulb or HID is being used.
There's no dedicated EK group over here, that's why I'm trying to join. If it ain't good, why would there be so many spin-offs on Facebook alone? =P
Cheers everyone! Looking forward to the photoshoot tomorrow and sharing more great pics with everyone~ =P

Re: EK Squad Try Out
I saw yours too~ Great job! =P
Lol~ Cut him some slack will ya? ^^~ Currently sourcing maybe an Airwalker/Buddy Club/Backyard Special front bumper~ Think that will give it a +1up look!
Just came back from supper with my friend, he has a rare MandM double vented bonnet. Starting to hate my 3GS camera! >.<
Thanks for the inputs everyone!

Looks great! Amazed you got that dent out of the wheel! I would be distraught if that happened to my TE's! I think if this car got a good photoshoot, it would give you a good chance in achieving your goal!

Re: EK Squad Try Out
I don't believe turnsignalandy is in the EK SQUAD (he has a sedan). The first page of the EK SQUAD thread has a member list I think. Might want to check it out.
I don't know the rule now, but at least before it used to be frowned upon to request to be in the squad.
