Aircraft Paint Stripper doesn't work too well?
i tried stripping the paint off my rotas but i'm having a hard time getting the damn paint off. Everyone says its as easy as just rinsing off the paint with little effort but with my own experience, i'd put a coat on and let it sit for about 10 mins and then the paint would still be on the rim. I tried scrubbing it but it won't budge much. Now i have a wheel partially covered with paint and in some spots the metal is showing. What am i doing wrong? help!
I'm thinking of just breaking out the sandpaper.. but what grit? thanks. .

jeez..I used aircraft paint stripper on a black gsr valve cover (The wrinkle paint) and it stripped it clean within ten minutes...I don't know why its not stripping the paint off your rims. Sorry i couldnt help

try it again sometimes it takes two times. let it sit longer and be generous with the paint stripper

i tried more then once or twice but still having a hard time. I'm down to about 1/3 of a can and i'm only on my first wheel.

no you will sand forever trying to get the right finish...
you would problay need to sand starting with like 400 wet and then you will see scratches unless you sand all the way up to like 2000g

i'm going to be painting after i sand. Will the scratches be that noticeable after i add the primer and paint?

doing it in the heat also helps the paint remover.
also, if your using to much, maybe a can of Jasco paint remover might work

thats how my rims look right now, the paints broken apart but its still stuck on there. I'm going to try a dremel with a wire wheel attachment, what do you guys think?

i used 2 cans of aircraft stripper on each wheel 
, it takes alot since rims have a nice coat of paint cause of heat and rocks. it takes time, trust me its frustrating.it took me a week to strip and paint the wheels, but in the end it was worth it

damn and i thought i was the only one having problems. I guess i should have more patience when dealing with these rims.

dont use a dremel...
if the paint looks like that pic and its still on there, I think you waited to long...
load them up take them to a car wash in the middle of the night, spray them down with stripper and then high pressure rinse them off...

i picked up some jascos today and i tried it out a bit, seems to work better then aircraft remover. I'll use high pressure water to rinse it off next time.
