It's hard for an IS to be a sleeper when it's already considered a sports sedan. In addition to that you have 3 mods that are serious "rice", which is the total opposite of sleeper...
#1 slammed (even worse on oem rims, even-even worse, not oem rims from your car)
#2 again, not on stock rims
#3 HUGE front mount
TsujenDB1 has the epitome of a "sleeper"
Thieves are owning this thread (in addition to those that can't comprehend what a sleeper is)... theres alot of us on these boards that have sleepers and won't post them because we wanna keep em' sleepers.

In layman's terms - A sleeper is something both a thief and a cop will overlook (and therefore GSR's, Si's, Type-R's are automatically NOT Sleepers)

Ok, ok, a gsr or si maybe... a type-r could be surprising (i.e. 500hp + stock looking), however, never a sleeper..

lol I was expecting someone to say something like that.
OEM Lexus IS350 wheels. ALOT of people don't even notice it. It's not slammed like that anymore. It's raised up.
Come pull up next to me on the road and you wouldn't think much about my car.
Go look over at a Lexus forum or SupraForums and my car is what WE qualify as a 'sleeper'. Everyone has their own definition of a 'sleeper'
this is how it sits.
And ps. I give no ***** if you 'qualify' my car as a sleeper, I qualify you as an dumb ****. Sorry my car isn't a honda w. a motor swap

there's absolutely nothing wrong with those wheels right there.
I guess oem gsr blades on a civic is wrong, even though half the community runs that setup.

VERY true! At least mine are Lexus wheels on a Lexus not ACURA wheels on a HONDA....but than again, I drive a "sport sedan" that runs 15 second 1/4 miles stock and has MAYBE 190WHP.....*rolls eyes*
Guess my stock looking 418RWHP doesn't fall into the 'sleeper' category ha ha ha

turn up that boost brother... that motor is capable is handling a plethora of boost on stock internals. local guy made 718rhp but had the supra 6speed tranny and a head job. stock bottom end.

I'm only at 16psi for daily use. About to crank it up. IS300s have 2JZGE(non turbo) engines in them. Stock internals aren't all that great, that's why I'm running Clevite bearings and GTE(Supra TT) internals and GTE head gasket. It'll be able to handle a GOOD amount more boost.

No one said it was wrong, it's just not sleeper. If your ef is slammed on fat fives, you look like a racer, not a sleeper.

It's actually the fact that it will more than likely get stolen. It's different in the honda world. When I go to the mall or movies, I park my SLAMMED TURBO LEXUS with no problem and no worries. A modified civic parked at a mall in socal is deathwish... Alot of thieves lurk on h-t. For that reason, most won't post their rides.

That's funny, I also own a Turbo Lexus (Sc300), and I go on supraforums, and clublexus, and yes, some of the older guys / non racer guys on those forums would call your car a sleeper, but the younger "racer" crowd are not surprised by the fact that your slammed lexus with huge front mount has 400hp. SOCAL is filled with 400hp is300's, sc300's, gs300's and 3rd and 4th gen supras. If you had that car in socal, a kid would try to race you every day, guaranteed.

I just saw this... NOT TRUE -- there are quite a few people running consistent 10's and 11's in the quarter with ge bottom ends. One guy I know of was backing up high 9sec passes in a SC on a 200k+mile spare stock ge shortblock until he spun a bearing...
a couple of guys have found out the ge head outflows the gte head by a hair on the flowbench. The only real differences between the heads are the manifold spacing and the quench chamber is higher/taller on the ge head. Otherwise, same thing.
The shortblocks are almost the same too, minus oil squirters... I think you guys (is300) got different rods, but the older sc blocks are damn near the same as far as crank and rod strength.
Modified by DragWerks at 2:39 PM 5/2/2008</TD></TR></TABLE>
Guess it all depends on your location. In TN my car is a sleeper because there are not many modified Lexus around here. Seems to be different than in Cali. PS. My car isn't slammed, I already stated that
Is300 GE rods are weak compared to GTE rods. I have a picture of the GTE rods and another of my GE rods(sitting on my desk in my room). BIG difference.
IS300 would be highly lucky to hit anywhere near that with GE internals. I haven't seen any GE bottom end SC's run those times. Maybe I'm looking at a different part of the forums(ClubNA-T, ISfanatics, SupraForums, My.IS, so on so on).
GE heads have been proven to flow better than GTE heads, but the intake manifold on the GTE allows to run a bigger turbo and not worry about heat soak into the cool side of the intercooler piping(mine runs right over the exhaust housing of my turbo). That's another benefit of the GTE head
I apologize for the name calling. Just expect uninformed people on this site when it comes to anything other than a 4cyl Honda.
