$350 "Paint Job" - NEW PICS ON PAGE 1 - My First Wrap
my landlord hates me!
other people in the parkade think im totally freakin retarded
paid $350 for 54" x 12 yards (36 feet) of white car wrap vinyl made by Oracal
i don't do this for a living, i went to a seminar a few years ago and this was the first time i had a chance to try my hand at car wrapping.
i still have a lot to learn, and my trimming skills are worse than amateur.
why did i do this: after being rear ended in my CRX that i had owned since i was 16 (7 years) and modding it just the way i wanted it i went in search of a new shell to transfer parts and start over. Picked this CRX up cheap (its a 1990 Canadian SI) and transferred all my parts over that were still good (front end, side skirts etc).
so i dont make much money and cant afford a full paint job and rust repair right now (i wanna do an all out restoration, have to save probably $7k)
so for now i found this was a cost effective way to hide the ugly so i could drive the car for the summer and not stick out too much.
how much labour was involved: this was my first time doing a car and it took me slightly more than 20 hours to do the entire thing, which sounds like a lot but its a labour of love when im working on my car.
tools used: 10$ heat gun, $10 precision scalpel set, free plastic squeegee, iso alcohol, a few energy drinks, and pizza.
hopefully i don't get flamed, you have to kinda understand my situation before you can see why i did this.
anyway, ill let the pics tell the rest of the story.
here is the car "complete"
i'm not skilled enough to do the mirrors, i will likely remove them and spray them trim black for now.
UPDATE:
lots of people wanted to see pics in the sunlight, so i gave it a shot, ended up with a cloudy day and i did my best.
so this is all i have so far.
its got some ugly rust on the corners of the fenders, the vinyl is temporary until i can afford to fix the car correctly (cut and welding in new rear wheel arches)

You know I didn't think this would come out very clean, but to my surprise that's not bad man! Haha, just paint the mirrors black and you are good to go. Looks pretty clean from what I can see? Take more detailed shots Not bad solution to save some money for a real paint job.

ill be able to take better pictures when the weather warms up so i can pull it outside in the sun, my camera cannot take good pictures underground in the low light setting. (its a 15$ camera and cheapest tripod money can buy)

I work in the digital graphics industry, so I see car wraps all the time. They look amazing when done right.
I swear, I would never think this car was wrapped. Looks damn good.

WOW!! I thought about this a long time ago and was planning on trying it out, but for some reason it made me think that it wouldn't come out looking so good!
Could only look good cause you picked the color white though?
It could look different in other colors.
