radio code problemo, 2009 accord
so my battery went dead and after jumping it the radio says to enter the security code. I push a few buttons it says error. then I realize I have the little card and enter the correct code and it doesnt work. I enter it a few more times then go to the honda site to look up the code to confirm it is correct. honda site says it is but I have two codes so I write down the new one and go to try it. It doesnt work either. I start to curse and mother f my radio. I try the old code, fail. try the new code, fail. after failing 10 times total the radio says code E and wont let me try anymore.
I saw that after reaching code E I need to unhook the battery to reset it so I can try again but I wonder what I'm doing wrong. Any clue or tips would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Re: radio code problemo, 2009 accord
do you have navi? the radio code is normally a 5 digit # and navi is 4 digit. when you enter it wrong too many times the radio locks out and you will have to unhook the battery for a few min to un-lock it. if both sets of #s do not work then turn the radio off, press and hold presets 1 and 6, while holding 1 and 6 press the POWER button for the radio and you should get a set of digits sometimes with letters. those are you serial # for the radio, write them all down and call up your local honda dealership and give them your info to look up a radio code for you

no navi.
thanks for the advice. i guess if the serial number comes up different on the radio than on the card they gave me that would indicate a problem. we'll see

on youtube theres a video showing how to pull your serial number from the radio (at least for 03-07 radios)...call the dealer with the serial number and they will give you the radio code

well I fixed it. pressing 1 and 6 with the radio off didnt do anything. then i remembered reading the code and serial # was sometimes printed in a sticker on the side of the glove box. so I looked and there it was, a completely different code. it worked, so I'm happy but still not sure how the honda site and the card had a different code than the one on the glove compartment.
thanks for the help
