My Honda Accord 2008 not accelerating
Hello All,
I am Mike, I am new to the forum. I am currently having a serious problem with my ride. Could you please guide me as to what needs to be done?
The problem: When I press the throttle, I see the RPM going extremely high but the speed increases very slowly and the gear shifts are slow.
The 1st garage says: The guys told me that the filter in the silencer is clogged due to bad fuel and they will need to remove one of the filters.
The 2nd garage says: The O2 catalytic converter needs to cleaned out and put back but that does not guarantee problems not happening in the future.
Can you please guide me as to whats the best way to resolve this problem before it turns out to be real expensive?

Auto or manual? Do the rpms climb normal but the power just does t seem to be accelerating the vehicle or does he engine now rev out properly at all and sputters/misfires? Any codes? If it's revving and running normally but not accelerating the car, it sounds like a clutch or tq convertor/auto tranny issue. If it's running bad and misfiring and not revving normally then possibly a clogged/bad cat convertor, bad coil packs/plugs fuel filter etc. but if it revs freely and just won't put power to the ground, that's a tranny/driveline issue.

Thank you guys for your response. No indication lights are on.
This is an automatic.
Ok I will explain in detail whats happening.
When I accelerate from stop position, the gear shifts into 1st and 2nd like normal. Then as I press to go faster, the rpm goes all the way up to 5000 before it falls into the third gear and so on for the rest of the gears.
At the same time, the speed goes up so slowly. There seems like there is no power at all.

So the "D" light is not flashing.....I'd still have is scanned for codes, there are some that will not "trip" the MIL or D light.
Next, can we assume the fluid is fresh and full?

Definitely sounds like a trans issue. Possibly torque convertor slipping. As said above, check fluid for level and see if it is still nice and bright or dirty and dark/burnt. Heat is the biggest enemy for an auto trans. If the fluid is dirty or burned, do a full trans flush and filter change. Also check the magnet inside of the tranny pan for metal particulate stuck to it. (There should be a round magnet stuck inside of the bottom of the pan)
Also check for stored codes that may not display a malfunction indicator as not all parameters will automatically do so.
