Default High Octane gas and Synthetic Engine Oil

My 06 accord has presently 130K miles on it.
First question I have is with regards to High Octane gas. Is there a benefit to using higher Octane gas with regards to mileage and performance? More importantly say I do use a higher octane gas, can I revert to the regular gas without having any issues.
Second question is with regards with regards to Synthetic Engine Oil. Every time I take my car to service I believe I am being given a sales pitch with regards to Synthetic Engine oil. Is there an advantage/need for the same. Likewise should I continue to use Synthetic if I start using one in my engine.

If you search the interwebs, you may find where higher octane has yielded a little better performance power wise. If you are not squeezing every once of HP out of your car, it is not necessary to run premium, and it won't make any difference changing between the two.

Synthetic oil has generally been accepted as a better oil for colder weather and for cold starts. It also is less likely to create "carbon" deposits inside your motor. Truth of the matter is, oil=good, no oil=bad. So basically just keep it topped off and you should be fine.

The above is the correct answer.

However, here is the real world answer base on what they tell you and how long you may want to keep your car.

- There is no difference between premium and 87 gas. Use what's cheap. Gas prices are back up a bit. With the Iran deal, it should stay low. But no doubt it will climb back to $4 a gallon. Buy what's cheap. Once you get into the habit of buying premium gas for your Accord, it would be hard (mentally) to switch back.

- The shop is just trying to sell you a more expensive service. My Honda dealership charge something crazy like $70 for 0-20 full syn oil change. Yes, it does cost more at Walmart ($15), but not $70 when the regular 5-20w dino oil is $25.

All Honda engine uses 0-20 now, so that all cash.... I would continue to use dino oil. It's fine. People run 200K+ with dino oil. Again, no need to develop the habit of full syn oil.

Thank you guys. I will continue doing what am doing (using regular gas and normal/regular oil change).
