Accord 2003 4 cyl Auto Transmission will not allow me to put car in Drive from the Park position once car is started and the brake pedal is depressed. It is sporadic and seems to happen more frequently when the air conditioner is turned on when the car is started?

Any ideas ? Is it the Neutral Safety Switch ?

Do you hear a click, when you push the brake pedal? Do your brake lights work? If not, your brake pedal position switch is either loose or broken.

no neutral safety switch you wouldnt be able to start it at all. step on the brakes and have someone look to see if you have any brakelight. go from there.

x2. Brake pedal switch is a fairly common failure on these vehicles; it also causes the cruise control to stop functioning and can turn the TCS light on (if equipped). The part costs less than $8 and is an easy DIY fix.

if its not a brake light switch, grease the solenoid that releases the shifter..
