'03 Accord Driver's Seat Slack in mounting rail
My wife has a 2003 Accord EX with leather interior. When you accelerate and brake, the driver's seat moves slightly back or forward, maybe just about 1/4-1/2", but noticeable. Does anyone else have this issue and is there a fix?
The seat is power adjustable. I've sat in the car and force the seat back and forth and it does not appear there is any slack between the two sliding rails on which the seat moves forward and back. It seems like it is the whole seat mount...or something else?
I told her not to worry about it...she tells me it bothers her...so here I am trying to see what i can do to fix it...

Many people have this problem. Haven't found a reasonably cheap fix yet. To replace the entire mechanism is very expensive, and it would end up with the same problem. Sorry. I have hope that someday, someone will find a solution that doesn't cost an arm.

Mine does the exact same thing. It aggravates me to know that there is no cheap fix for it.

Thanks for your replies...I suppose we will just leave it as is...I'll let you know if I rip it out one day and find a fix.

I do see this problem often on customer's cars. But I never paid attention if it was power seats or manual seats or both. If I come across any thoughts/fix to this problem, I'd be glad to send out good news.
Hardest part is to find the right customer who will be patient to go through this process.
Unless my seat starts to act up and I can spend some time on my own seat.

It's the power seats. Mine is the 8-way, but I think they all do it. If my seat gets worse, I will probably take it out and try to figure out what's up. It only happens if I brake a little harder than usual, or accelerate quickly, but it is very annoying when it happens. Please help us out with this. I think the stock part is $500 or more, and a new one would get to this point sooner or later, so it's hard to justify replacing it.

Re: '03 Accord Driver's Seat Slack in mounting rail
I have a '05 Accord, manual seat adjust, and my seat sounds like it was doing the same thing, but for me it only moved on the left side. Took the seat apart and could not find/see any reason for this occurring. I went crazy one day sliding it back and forth as hard as I could until I heard something come out. When I found the object, I was amazed.... It was a quarter ($0.25). My guess is that the quarter lodged itself in a way that it slid with the locking mechanism along the rail, thus why I was not able to see it during disassembly.
I know that you have power seats, but I would think twice before you decide to replace.

Re: '03 Accord Driver's Seat Slack in mounting rail
wow, that thread at v6performanceforums is exactly what I was looking for on this forum. Excellent resource, thanks for posting it!!! I'm still not sure what I'll end up doing, maybe just the simple rotate 90deg since it seems nobody has come up with a specific part# yet for direct replacement of the bushing. I'm sure to get a similar rubber firmness, size, spec, etc--or better is going to be hard specifying when calling any distributor of these.

Re: '03 Accord Driver's Seat Slack in mounting rail
My Friend just had his 2010 Honda Accord EX-L driver's side power seat tracks replaced under warranty by the dealer for the same problem only 23k on the car! Disappointed in honda's quality to say the least. Honda's dealer said the new seat tracks were made of thicker/stronger steel to withstand fatigue from repeated use and adjustments (what you and I call driving). Now when adjusting the seat it grinds/groans forward like to rocks rubbing together!

And also is it going to hold up if I would have to make an emergency break or is the chair going to come completely loose? Is it dangerous to drive around with a chair like that?
Thank you very much

I can't believe a silly Rubber Grommet can cause the seat to move forward when braking I don't like that. The same thing happens to me when I brake and don't even use the brakes hard. I always though it was the motor that didn't lock into the track. But seriously the grommets I think Honda should issue a TSB on this because I hear it affects a lot of models. And Because $500 dollars on a new seat track is not cool.

Mine moves sideways; and when it moves to the right, it snaps. Then it slides to the left imperceptibly, and in the next left curve, it snaps again. At high speed (100+ km/h).
