I just figured out that the check engine light isn't functioning. I'm betting I'm throwing a code and never knew it. At least I'm hoping

Its not just Dirty Ports,This engine is known for clogged ports the one closest to the EGR closes first then the next closest then the third one until all of the exhaust gas goes down one or two of the ports causing the misfire it can be intermittent because the egr is not always open. Plug your egr vacuum line at the valve with a golf tee or small bolt the car will go into "LOOP" mode engine light will be on symptoms will disappear there are several write ups on cleaning the ports by removing the plugs over them and using a 22 rifle cleaner to unplug the ports
