what should I invest in???
Hey all, I got a couple of ????. First I have a f22a auto that I would like to turbo, from what I understand turboing with auto transmission can really hurt your torque converter and maybe other things.
2nd- I was planning to do a swap either f22b or h22a thing is I would still want to turbo the f22b and not sure if I would keep the h22 all motor, plus I know the H22 is a bitch to drop in and you have to change around alot of ****. I drove my friends 95 civic hatchback H22 turbo and honestly it's fun but i can't see myself driving that everyday and everywere I go.
3rd- I only have the $$$ do one of those rite now. I can really use your guys opinon thanx.................

Well, a lot of this revolves around how you want to drive it, and how much you want to boost it.
The issue with turbo'd Autos is heat (yes from the t'converter), but this can be kept managable with a suplimentary trans oil cooler, and keeping an eye on the trans oil condition. A LOT of people will scream AAAHhhhh about autos' and boost, favoring a boost/5spd manual set up; but then (again) you'll still be dealing with blown axle CV joints ect.
Each way has it's pro's and con's. It's up to you to decide which way you want to go.

truthfully, none of that is an INVESTMENT. It's a money pit. That being said, boost is fun until you break stuff.

Re: what should I invest in??? (P_Adams)
I consider my self a pretty normal daily driver. I avoid having to get tickets for any reason by the cops on whatever I have on or in my car. But I really like knowing theres something pretty powerful under the hood and I won't lie boost is great. But even I have my limits on just everyday driving. I do know theres a trans fluid temp gauges, Im not to familiar how there installed tho..

If you want just a reliable daily driver, all motor h22 is probably the way to go. I don't know about the trans temp gauge but I'd assume it's just like a water gauge.

Trans temp sensors, by this time are all electric, as opposed to mechanical in nature. By this I mean they utilize a remote electrical sensor, wiring and, of course, the gauge and pod assembly. Very easy to set up. Using brass adapters (if required), the remote sensor (thermocouple) can be mounted in place of the trans drain plug. You then run the wiring as instructed-and you're done.
This is far easier than the older thermo-bulb/capallary tube mechanical gauges. These were harder to mount since it required welding a mounting bung to the trans pan (so the sensor bulb could be mounted and not disturbed later. This is really a mute point since Honda trans have no "pan" so to speak, but it makes for a more complete understanding of the subject.
On the Turbo/Naturally Aspired Question? My personal preference is a turbo set-up limited to 8psi boost w/msd Ignition control (boost retard), a Turbo Timer and an EMU (of which brand is still up in the air). Considering it probably won't see much boost except on the open highway (in 4th lock-up), I doubt I'll be stressing it much.

Seriously the money u are putting for the turbo i would put it into a transmission swap to manual because Honda automatic trannys suck you probably drop the same amount of seconds as turboing the auto tranny and the H22 from what i know shouldnt be all that hard to drop into an accord

I must agree with this guy, there's is no investiment when the subject is automobiles... why?!... because from the minute you buy it... it starts to loose value... ..so...
Think "logicX420x"... is this the car you want to keep for some time? Are you ready to do any of these things you would like to?
You must ask yourself, and maybe read some opinions here with Honda accord owners, but the question was made by you, and so... it must be answered by you.
If you want some strong power, take the H22.... ...or just buy the F22B and do some bolt ons until you are financially ready to do a turbo... or maybe by then.. you may not want a turbo anymore... so.. it's all up to you.... in my case for example.... ....I do not want a turbo or nitrous, because I do not want to put anything that makes the engine work harder, or harder than I would like it to.... ..meaning.... ....when you have a turbo... you eventually want to see the power going to the wheels... and... pushing your engine to limits... will certainly shorten it's life... and maybe... your own life too... so.... fast is fun... faster is even more fun... but... when it gets too fast... ... ...there's always a downside...
Good luck with your decision!

that might last a few months. once you get used to the power you'll want to turn up the wick, because it's so damned easy and you'll know you can make more power with all the parts you already have.

Re: what should I invest in??? (gianinline)
Your rite about the investment cause anything that has to do with cars it start to lose its value. I guess that was a bad title. Now as for what I'm ready to do I'm not sure. This is I guess you can say my project car so i'm pretty much ready to do what pleases me. I have fun with what I have under the hood already but I still want more. Like notorious B said once you get used to the power you'll want to turn up a little. I don't see to many turbos on fourth gens I guess thats my reason for wanting the turbo. But like I said earlier I know what to much, I felt my homies civic pull at about 15 psi and heard the BOV I was like wow, I didn't even make it to fourth gear, but I knew a that moment that I would just get myself in trouble.

Re: what should I invest in??? (Honda_Accord)
you are right..... ....I should had looked before saying that.... lol...
Anyway.... I don't blame nobody for having a turbo or nitrous, I don't think it's the dumest thing to do to a car... it's all up to the owner, if you want, you do it, but... that was my personal opinion when I said I would not turbo my car, at least... not my current one.....
