The engine is mounted mid/rear so those springs in the front can get wet it doesn't really matter - think plymouth prowler. As for the street legal issue, it's a kit car and to my knowledge they don't need extensive crash testing if any at all. Actually it's tube frame chassis so it is quite rigid and strong. My father builds 1966 Shelby Cobra Reproductions the same way and has zero problems being street legal. In fact is dead on spec to the original so it even insures as a 1966 - dirt cheap insurance.

The turnkeys go for 32-40 grand canadian funds. The difference in price depends on which motor and tranny you go with. The frame will take 290 to 427 cid motors and can/has been modified for engines up to 460cid.

They can also be bought in kit form for like 12,000 canadian. Those don't come with motors so you're looking at around 16,000 canadian for the rest of the parts and paint.

Just a rough idea on performance #'s, the demo they built back in i believe 94/95 had a 350C mildly modified putting out 410hp and i think around 490ish ft-lbs to the wheels. The finished car with everything weighs in around 2000lbs. So 0-60 in 3.6, 175mph (est) top speed and should run like 11's in the 1/4. Since couldn't find a 5spd that wouldn't disintegrate they used a 4spd and you could do 100km/h in 1st gear. They have found a 5spd in the past year that will handle the power it's a Doug Nash race unit and is around 2500.

hmm... because it is a tube frame car (which if designed properly can make the chasis ridgity of the s2000 look like a wet noodle) and the fact that it weighs in at a little under 1900 pounds also can make this car handle like a dream. Plus it doesnt look that bad and the fact that if you pay for just the kit and put it together yourself you can say you truely put that car together. I think it is more than worth it. If only I had that kind of money.
