Default update on my car accident

well the other guys damages were 1,800 for his broken light and misplaced frame, so i paid him, we didnt go with insurance, i just had him sign a few documents stating that i cant be sued, this and that.

As for my car, i had 3 shops look at it. One shop said 3,200 for my car, the second one said 2,200, and when i went to the third shop, before i talked to the owner, the co-owner pulled me to the side and asked me if i had gone through insurance, i told him no, and he told me that his other boss lets him do work on the side after hours and the shop(the only mexican shop around) and he tells me that he will come to my house a few hours later and look at my car.

He comes over, he was just amazed, but he just simply stated, that it was a honda and was worth repairing, so he called me up the next day said that he had gone to a couple of junk yards, and his place had my tail lights and some other pieces and tells me that He will do all the work, for 1,800 to, that would include, replaced that whole crushed part, fixing my trunk, and the back windshield, a quarter panel i think he called it, bumper, and he would actaully fix my frame for free, it moved over like half an inch. his shop has like a thing that grabs the butt of the car and slowly inches it over. O yeah, and a paint job. THere are other things that he will replace, all within 1,800, so let me know what you guys think, And yes he does have a license for the body work and painting, or some **** like that

thanks for the help guys,
jon

if that's you last resort then do it.

your car is totally stock right?

seems to me like a good time to wipe the slate clean.

yeah, i've seen 93's go for up to 5k before...so you should be able to get around 4 without a problem, just make sure it's in good working order and everything is spotlessly clean when you go to sell it, you would be surprised at how much of a difference the appearance of the car makes when selling it! good luck!

You just paid him? 1800 dollars? Geezus!!! Why didn't you go thru ins.? I hope it wasn't that lame myth about them raising your premiums...

Man, once you bend the unibody frame the car is never the same again... You get all sorts of weird alignment problems.

I just can't believe that you didn't let your insurance co. deal with it. that's why you pay them all that money in the first place. The ins. co. would've written off your car and paid you the KBB value and you could have had a downpayment for a new car... Subaru WRX, Celica GTS, RSX TypeS...

And about selling it for 4200, I highly doubt it unless you are shady and don't tell the prospective buyer about the damage. Bent frame=salvage title in my book.
