Default Edit** Lighten crank pulley good or bad??

My accord f22a6 has an light weight crank pulley and i was just curious to here peoples opinions on them. Is it going to hurt my engine at all? I thought that they would throw then engine balance off, but i talked to my friend who is a mechanic and he said that the motor is internally balanced and it wont affect it all.

your input is greatly appreciated

Thanks!
edit: i ment to say light weight crank pulley not under drive

A pulley is not going to affect much unless it hasn't been balanced (look for drill marks around the outer edges or somewhere on the side). It's not going to affect anything but the belt accessories at idle. They will turn slower and not work as well. While driving they should be fine. They aren't giving you very much advantage either.

Read here: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/2104833. You'll get a few HP across the range. It's not a bad mod. But I wouldn't recommend it if you're running the AEM's with a big stereo with amps in your car. I'd stick with UR's accessories pulleys then or get their stock sized crank pulley in addition. I have their older underdriven pullies and since I don't run a big stereo system (yet!), I don't have problems with losing audio power.

Its a great debate that people commonly get heated over. Yes the engine is internally balanced but the crank pulley is called a Harmonic balancer for a reason. I vote no (BTW my opinion is based on my knowledge of Automobiles and my 2 years of training in the Honda PACT program)
