transmission rebuild 02 accord
Hello Honda Experts,
Just got a quote to get the old tranny rebuilt, it was slipping at second gear for about a month. Its a 4 cyl 2002 with about 125k miles. I was wondering if $1900 with a 1 yr warranty seemed like a decent price. I can also add additional warranty for $300 more per year.
Personally I think warranties are a waste of money, but what do you guys think. I feel like if it doesn't break within a year, then it will probably be in good shape for the life of the transmission. Any thoughts if I should shell out the extra cash?
Thanks!

they extended the warranty up to 100k or 7 years, the car is already at 120+ so I dont think it matters
too late anyway, its being rebuilt as we speak. the question is, what is an appropriate warranty, I feel like $300 for an extra year is a rip off

Re: transmission rebuild 02 accord
i got my 98 honda accord's automatic transmission rebuilt with a 3 yr warranty..covers the whole transmission..if the thing even hiccups i can take it in. that was done by aamco. i would be careful who you take it to because if they make one mistake on it..it could effect you big time in the long run. personally i think warranties are worth it depending on the people/place who fix your car.

The warranty might be over, but a Honda dealer can request a good will repair, in which they will cover a certain percentage of the repair. My car was out of warranty by 2k miles, and they offered to pay for half of the transmission repair, which was alittle over 2k.

I got a quote from Honda for a 99 Accord V6 - $4,100 1yr warranty - Local Transmisison shop - $1,800 - 6mo. warranty - Gator Transmissions in chicago $1,650, includes shipping and return, $200 core charge (refunded upon return of Tranny) 2yr unlimited mi warranty (you have to install or pay to have shop install). I would go to the Dealership anyways, it never hurts to ask.

Don't want to hurt your feelings but a Hiperformance master kit is $235 what they put in them is a standard kit for $125 ,,everything needed
Cost at a shop to RR transmission $400
Cost to rebuild ..$500 and thats on the high side for the rebuild
