Default squeaking/whining while turning turn

i have a 95 accord ex.. and when ever i turn right i hear a squeaking/whining noise, it's a metal on metal noise, and when in reverse it gets extremely loud, then stops once im going straight.. my passenger side drive shaft is broken(it click when i turn, {fixing soon}) would that have anything to do with it? the shaft has been broken for a while now(months ) and this started a few days ago, im un sure where it is coming from, Ive tried opening diff windows.. ext.. all i can tell is its from the front..

thanks for any help

Have you checked your p/s fluid level?

It could be your rotor heat shield rubbing/hitting your wheel or rotor. Try bending your heat shield back a little bit

Had this same problem with mine. Check the pivot, cant remember what its called. Its that little **** that sticks up and your axel sits/pivots on it. Ity should be kinda sturdy but if its loose, its that

I have a similar problem with my '94 EX. I have been stumped for quite some time on what it could be so I put it off until I get everything else fixed up (not driving it at the time).

Whenever I would make a right turn I hear a loud squeeking sound from the front right wheel of the car, and like you said once I started going straight it would stop. What I did was I took off the front right wheel to see if anything was wrong with my brakes or anything. I ended up having to hammer my wheel off because it was rusted onto the brake (snow in Kansas = bad). I didn't find anything wrong with my brakes so I put the wheel back on and drove it around the block, surprise the sound was gone for the rest of the night, too bad it didn't stay gone, the day after I hear the awful sound once again.

I really have no idea what it could be, try bouncing the front of the car up and down and see if it makes the sound, it does on mine so maybe the suspension? I also tried jacking up the front end of the car and moving my steering wheel back and forth, no sound at all. Also has the car been flooded in the past? Maybe it just needs a good lube job

Hope ya figure it out and if you do ping me!

On one side the heat sheild did have two holes in in where it was rubbin against the rotor.. I tried bending it back a bit, it seems a litel quiter but could just be me..

I have noticed that the wheel is stuck on and you kave to kick it to come off.. but i dont belive its because of rust.. Also it was pouring the other day,(every road was under 1" of water), so prehaps ot could of just washed off some lube?

I'm takin another look to day ill keep you posted

Had a similar problem and my mechanic adjusted the brakes and the sound was still there when he finished but went away in about a week.

I just had a mechanic check out the suspension, and all they found was the passenger side tie-rod was lose at the outer end.. Could this be anything?

I think the sound is coming from the driver side.. Still not sure.

You sure the power steering belt isn't slipping?

i have this problem and many others! check the ;evel of the ps with the car running and see if the fluid is bubbling. On a side note the gray ghost is being driven to **** before the repo man comes. Its holding together suprisingly well. A few times well over redline in t3h auto that honda tranny does suprisingly well shifting manual-like just wish the ****** didnt have that 1st gear lock out i want ot shift into first at 25 mph! ( the place i got it from fucked me severely on the deal, 34.99% worth of non credit bearau reported *******, and went back on their word for repairs on a 13 year old car im paying 300 a month for)

It's tough to diagnose a noise over the internet, but it sounds like your power steering rack is whining. If this is the case, normally, you would need to replace the steering rack, but I've had pretty good luck with flushing the power steering fluid with synthetic fluid.

GM sells a "cold weather" fluid that is a synthetic. They use it for their cheap-*** steering racks, since they whine and slip all of the time. With Honda's racks, they tend to last forever, but they will occasionally whine and groan while turning if they are old or if the incorrect power steering fluid has been used for extended periods of time (Honda recommends their own fluid).

i found out that it was the actually the breaks rubbing.. but i did notice that when the steering wheel is turned all the way to one side and hold it there, it wines a bit. it doesn't seem like a big problem, but idk. thanks for all the help
