Icon2 spring rates and which best applies to me.

i was reading about spring rates on many forums and i don't know which to use. i am stock between the tein basic or the koni yellow and cg setup.
my driving is daily, and every now and then spirited when i want to hear the roar of the engine. i just want some springs that won't make me bounce all the way to work. i want to be right at the center of comfort and the "rice bump" if u know what i mean. it's either comfort and crappy handling or crappy ride quality and nice handling. i heard teins are ok , because of the soft springs and lack of adj. damper. koni gc on the other hand are totally adj.

two things: 1# i want to be able to pass inspection every two years that is why i want an adjustable suspension, 2# for the winter i can raise my car and not have to worry about pot holes and being stuck because the whip is to low. i figured if i spend the money now i'll save in the long run. because if u add up paying for inspection (nj $150.00 or more for private inspection, compared to the dmv inspection which is FREE). my goal is to have the whip look nice and street legal at the same time. No tints, loud muffler, blue HID's (white is legal), or anything that will cause me to get pulled over or give me issue's for inspection.

if anyone knows where i can get the koni's gc or the teins cheap let me know. i can get the teins for around 820. shipped (ebay) koni's i think i priced it at about almost 1000.

thanx

Tein and Koni are not to be used with cheap in the same sentence

for brands like those man if someone is selling them cheap they're doing it for a reason. Be cautious in your search.

Just get the Koni/GC OTS 380F/280R. if you want a lowered look but not slammed.

Now if you want to slammed it I would suggest getting a stiffer front. And also it depends how far you travel to work.

I used to have my car slammed with 500lbs of GC and its very stiff, I travel very far and I can feel every cracks on the road. And now I have the OTS and have raise my car about 1-2 finger gap and the ride is perfect for me.

I think you can get more answer in the suspension area.

thanx for the input guys. lol accord2 i knowthose suspensions aren't cheap. what i meant was if i could get them from a reputable place for as cheap as possible. i would never buy from a private seller, because i have seen what happens. anyone ever bought from kruma motoring on ebay? thax the cheapest i have seen teins. but then again i haven't really searched all that well on the internet. my car won't be slammed, maybe only for pix, just to show off the car when i get it to where i want it. ill probably shave as much as possible with out having to buy camber kits.

How about crappy ride quality, and crappy handling? If you are one of the guys that slams their **** to the ground and thinks you have a ZOMG!!1 race warz car - it will probably have both. If you REALLY care about handling, you need to read a lot on suspension, and invest money in tires and the "driver mod" before blowing money on components (that ARE expensive if you want to do it right).

If you wanna get something that comes with a cool decal that will make you cooler and not be 'gross' stock height....then just admit it and do that instead...

b18 kid for FYI, unlike alot of people out there that have "rice burners"(mostly civics) i don't shop in auto zone or F'ing walmart to "hook up" my car with BS stickers for $2.99 and think it's cool. if i'm going to spend money, it's going to make my whip look good (to everyone). don't assume that everyone on here is an idiot because im not. i asked a simple question "what spring rate is best for me?". i've read alot about spring rate and people explain what spring rate is and how it works, but they don't tell you how stiff is too stiff and how soft is too soft. example 500/600 is hard as rock and 200/100 is softer then a babies *** (numbers are not accurate). i admit even tho i know my sh%t, i don't know everything. this will be my first time lowering my car (i don't intend on putting it on floor) and i want to do it properly with no regrets. originally i was going to go with tein, but it got mixed reviews. some people say they are good others' say it's to soft of a suspension. on the other hand, koni w/ gc springs got good reviews all around, but u have to choose a spring rate on the gc springs. bopbop answered my question so now i am clear on what to get. know where poeple are comin from before u think he/she is an idiot.

not to bad i would do it again put it that way. I picked up the turbo kit plus the AEM ecu for around $1,300. Tuned and everything looking at $2,500, Ebay is your friend if you know how to use it. I havent touch anything on the internals yet. Huge difference from stock man haha. Going on 2 yrs boosted and just tested compression 210 all across. I ran with a evo on the dragstrip if that answers your question.

what kind of setup are you going with on your suspension? i have the same goal as you drop a couple inches, not trying to slam it, and want a decent ride. I know a guy on here who has a our car to ill have to ask him what he's using. He knows our car pretty good. Ill have to email though. I can't rememebr his user name on here.

LOL @ from NJ and white HID's are legal. Only legal is 4300k. You'll automatically fail with anything other than that

i had a 96 accord ex auto. and i got pulled over for my blue turn signals, improper mounting of plates, tints, loud exhaust (fart cannon). i'm tired of riding trying to dodge po po. those dayz are long gone. i actually i went directly to the horses mouth, i went to the state legislature website to find the 139 statue laws (everything that has to do with vehicles). white is allowed but doesn't specify where is it ok. i wonder if putting an aftermarket turbo will pass inspection in NJ?

is your accord your daily driver? i would like to one day drop a turbo in my cg, but i am not sure of the reliability for dailey driving use.

Well since his question was already answered i'll chime in too. My car has a bit of rice mods to it too, hell i think most of us started the show route before the go. It just how the industry evolved over time. But I never really experienced the whole police problem though, not until I boosted my honda like 3 to 4 years ago. then they started paying attention. Funny how a honda gets ignored until it gets some muscle behind it.. Then they wanna start watching us...hahaha honda FTW. Always.

accord9power i think i am going with koni's w/ ground control springs. they are fully adjustable and thats what i am looking for, because in nj passing inspection with a car that has mods is a b%$#@. if it wasn't for the inspections every two years i would go with kyb agx's and some drop springs.

If we're talking about plug and play kits, they are all illegal in oem incandescent housings.

Color temperature does not even play a factor.

To accord power99 you love this setup. fully adjustable. koni ground control is F En nice. it's a little stiffer than stock but not to bad.

if you want to just lower it a little so its not gross looking, get some tein s-tech springs, maybe some KYB struts too

FYI Koni Yellow struts have like 3 levels or spring perches built in so you could buy some quality lowering springs and just put it where you want with a maybe an inch to play with

if you dont mind bustin *** driving aroundand you wanna track it a lot
you can get adjustable struts set really stiff, and some ebay springs (notoriously stiff) and leave yourself about a finger gap or so it would probably stick like hell but not on the street- you gonna bounce out of the window and the car will hit a tree

ninja edit: congrats on GC/Koni
